Iran: why they're still PO'd after the U.S. overthrew their leader 75 years ago and replaced him with a dictator (the Shah). A history lesson for those who don't know the backstory.

Good Times—“For the most part, Mr. Trump sat and impassively watched blood and saliva sprayed out from the fighters beating each other silly in front of him”

Interesting. Trump flies in and out of Charlottesville airport and then helicopter rides to the Trump winery. No chance of public contact or exposure to public opposition to his disastrous foreign and domestic policies.

Historical flashback: 1956 Suez Crisis "Taking Iran, which...was weaker than it had been in almost 50 years, and allowing it to emerge from a direct military confrontation with the United States as arbiter of a quarter of 20% of the global supply of oil and gas, simply beggars belief."
With commas.
Resentment and contempt sells, bigtime> see Richard Nixon, Joe McCarthy, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, not to mention Donald Trump.

Roanoke, SW Virginia: No Kings! March 28, 2026

Thousands showed up in downtown Roanoke for No Kings—blanketing Elmwood Park and adjacent streets. Lotta kids! (ages 7-70+). Spirits soared amid the blossoming cherry trees.

How many times can we “obliterate “ Iran’s nuclear capabilities? How many years will Iran be “weeks away” from attacking the U.S.? How many wars can Netanyahu get us into? How many centuries will countries continue fighting religious wars? How many trillions must be spent to feed the military industrial complex? How many innocent men, women and children must be killed and displaced from their homes? END THIS WAR NOW
WHY ARE WE IN IRAN?
Some people like to pretend that racism is nonexistent in today's America: here's a good example starting at the top:
"Mr. Buria --Pete Hegseths chief of staff—said that President Trump would not want to stand next to a Black female officer at military events, the officials said."
Exactly. That concept—"Trump Credulity Bubble"—has also captured big media companies—NYT, CNN, WP, WSJ, networks, etc. Taking for granted that everyone acts like POTUS isn't wildly lying continuously. Then, timorously, they delicately analyze the lies...which have been replaced a by a new batch.

A very special occasion is planned: "Trump also said he’d invite all the GOP senators and their families for Easter dinner at the White House. Some Republicans took that as a threat, not a reward.""

Hmmmm…Interesting anti-ICE full page ad in today's Roanoke Times. From Christy Walton, one of the billionaire heirs to Walmart fortune (est. worth: $42+ billion).

Zero out immigration, immigrant workers, Govt-backed scientific funding, attack the American travel industry, add large tariffs to everything imported et voilà!
What Trump is good at is selling imagery of success, honed over 40 years of deception/fraud, using very basic techniques common to con men worldwide. It's largely worked. But now he's faced with the dilemma of squaring the irresistible force of his MAGA con-game w/ immovable object of reality.
Examining Trump's business career from ~1985, it's clear that he continually made the worst decisions possible for decades even as he received giant infusions of Fred Trump's cash. He drove his businesses into bankruptcy multiple times even as he projected an image of a successful rich guy.-1-
He's a good con man. They keep talking and talking and soon marks forget what exactly he's promised (or failed to deliver). Con men are also big on displaying symbols—relating to their success, patriotism & disdain for hated "others." Trump's symbolism is more important than whatever he's promised.
Frum = useful idiot. He says: "Only by being ready to say yes to funding this war—under the right circumstances, with sufficient guarantees—can Democrats in Congress…etc"
As if Trump will actually honor a promise he makes to Democrats.
