Ah thanks for the clarification. I haven't seen the latest dev update yet, but an official, not janky, way to do that would be awesome

For the latter part there's already a way iirc.
You can alter the start parameters to join a fixed instance ID, and iirc it should open the instance under that id if none is open.

Take it with a grain of salt, since I'm not home to test it. I'll answer again after testing.
