I was made redundant four times in a row. I’ve coped by finding ways to surprise myself After being approached for ‘a quick chat’ at four different companies, I started to feel cursed. However, for those in the same boat, not all hope is lost. Even if it feels like it “Your role may be impacted.” That’s how they put it. The price of pleasure • Zora Simic A journalist explores the “sexual wellness industry”

My (generous) calculation is that there’s probably just one review per every 20 books released in Australia. To have Zora Simic read my work closely, and for at @insidestory.bsky.social to run a long, thoughtful piece of criticism is a phenomenal privilege. insidestory.org.au/the-price-of...

unfortunately I think this one is a cliche because it is so common, although I appreciate it's an anatomical issue. Crossed legs hitting the shins of fellow passengers is also an etiquette breach, though crossing one's legs is often a response to not being given enough space in the first place.

My petty gripe: Australians just don’t know how to act right on public transport People dump their bags everywhere, fail to file to the sides and force fellow riders to fight their way to the doors upon departure

I will say this to anyone who will listen. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

‘It’s about life and dance and colour’: inclusivity still in fashion on Australian runways Amid a backslide in the industry’s commitment to body and age diversity, at Australian fashion week some designers are taking a different approach to casting

At Australian fashion week, many designers have a habit of casting their friends as models. That means local runways now look very different from those abroad. www.theguardian.com/fashion/2025...

‘Rape is effectively decriminalised’: how did sexual assault become so easy to get away with? Few alleged offenders are found guilty. Many victims are retraumatised. What is getting in the way of the Australian criminal courts providing justice to sexual assault survivors?

Proud to share a story that’s been almost six months in the making, the first in a new series from @australia.theguardian.com exploring the ways our criminal justice system fails victim-survivors of sexual violence and often retraumatises them in the process: www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Alas there’s only one H&M in my home town and their guidance of ‘four medium bags per customer’ is unclear. If I was in a bigger city I’d just drive around to multiple fast fashion stores (they caused the bigger issue, so only fair they wear it), but if you’re regional it’s not much of an option.
