Indie Hive launched in 2019. Here are some games we played back then that we think are still deserving of a spot on your Steam wishlist (if you don't own them already!. #IndieGames #WishlistWednesday

Proud of Games at Northeastern GSND alumni Nabil Oueida, Srinivas Teja Bhattar and Kito They now go by Ludocratic Games as they've been pouring what they learned into their indie game "The Box is Alive" and a Kickstarter campaign.

You're going to love the game my team is currently working on. Unfortunately, it'll be another year until we are ready to share, but the prototype is doing great and a perfect fit. Great article!
To clarify, a "bigger fraction" here means 1%, as 49% of US gamers are 35+ year olds and 28% are 50+ year olds.
Yeah, World of Warships is also doing well in that demographic. They've done a GDC talk about it. gdcvault.com/play/1029081...
What is the “Stop Killing Games” initiative, and will it hold sway with regulators? @northeasternu.bsky.social game designer @bobdeschutter.be weighs in on the movement.
So far 2025 hasn't disappointed for horror movies. Sinners, 28 Years Later, Companion, Final Destination and Ugly Stepsister would make for a fine top 5 at the end of any year and we're just halfway there.
With Alan Alda being 89 years old, it's probably now or never.
Love how it picks up the pace as you keep firing. Awesome work!
Cool, I'll check it out. My favorite has been Gaming with Doc's Satisfactory vids, but that's really more of interest if you're into that game.
Any specific 65+ year old gamers you're following online?
The Accessibility Wizard from @steampowered.com is a serious step forward, even if there's still room for refinement. What stands out most is how genuinely satisfying it feels to progress through the checklist. Hoping motivates devs to include more game accessibility features.
Even from my perch inside gamedev, I had no idea it was already this bad. The rot is spreading. A necessary, sobering read. (gift link)
More like Metroidlameia 😂
I'm not sure that this poll says a lot about American scientists. The scientific community in the US is a diverse one with a lot of non-citizens as well as folks who are feeling targeted for reasons unrelated to their nationality. Nature should probably be above this kind of clickbait.
With over a hundred million active 40+ year old gamers in the US alone, I don't think that folks are not having fun playing them. There is some research talking about them wanting more innovation and less derivative games, though.
Stages and levels. Never heard boards.
It looks great. I'm excited. More than the remake despite the original being one of my all time favorite games.
I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.
Just a little pinch, they said
My face with a massive gaping hole to the side of it.
Was on a video call when my screen froze for a bit. For some reason it left a gaping hole in my face creepy enough for folks to take a screenshot. Maybe this is all a simulation after all?
Looking forward to reading about your research. Sounds interesting.
Gamers are maturing. Is the industry ready? Already 53 million strong, the community of U.S. gamers 50 and over presents a major growth opportunity. Yet research shows that older players feel overlooked by the gaming industry. Our panel featuring experts on consumer behavior, marketing and design will explore the future of gaming for this key cohort. Discover how to create age-inclusive games that captivate mature players and learn non-obvious insights for reaching this diverse audience. Whether you’re a developer, marketer or researcher, this session offers valuable strategic takeaways.
Pretty stoked about this #SXSW panel on how 50+ year old gamers are a massive and underserved opportunity for the game industry.
GDC and SXSW logos
I'll be at SXSW from 3/9 through 3/12 and at GDC from 3/18 through 3/22. Drop me a message if you'd like to meet up to talk age-friendly game design or anything else. :-)
Thanks! That's exactly the kind of perspective needed to keep us "first timers" going.
I always expect Pelinka to sound like Lowe when he is about to speak and it surprises me every time when he doesn't sound like him in the slightest.
this haptic display absolutely rocks. basketball is for everyone.
Doesn't make any sense. Couldn't this just end up being marketing for Anthony Davis' new prank show?

Time will tell. There's a few more days until the trade deadline.
So is there really no chance that this is just epic marketing for Anthony Davis' new prank show?

Is it me or are a lot of organizations already doing these on a daily basis?
