A mass shooting that took the lives of eight children should stop this country in its tracks. Instead, the Shreveport tragedy disappeared from the headlines in a day. We cannot allow this level of violence to fade into background noise. Ending America’s gun‑violence epidemic is a moral oblligation.

How tragic that you could publish, then re-publish, then re-publish, then re-publish, then re-publish a cartoon like this over and over again...
Reminds me of one of the best NoKings signs I’ve seen
IS THERE A DOCTOR ON BOARD?
this new series is actually disappointing…
Perhaps Magyar's most important promise, and the one that certainly resonates with voters: "never again a country without consequences!"
The crowd chants: "To prison! To prison!" [with the corrupt officials of the outgoing government]
Something like this will have to happen in this country once Trumpism is defeated. In the absence of accountability, the world will rightly assume that it will happen again.
From EARTHSEED: THE BOOKS OF THE LIVING Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.

"Magataotao" on Twitter writes: "I am Catholic. This👇is not my Pope." Attached is a video of the Pope saying that we should search for peace and reject war. A community note under their tweet says: "You are not a Catholic if you do not accept the Pope, but rather a schismatic. Canon 751: “Schism is the refusal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff,” ie. the Pope. https://www.vatican.va/archive/cod-iuris-canonici/eng/documents/cic_lib3-cann747-755_en.html"
first in my bloodline to see someone get excommunicated by a community note

Most likely, and of course, all speculation right now, this is why Melania did her 6 min statement today.

I wrote and posted this to Instagram a couple of days ago and it became my most-read poem ever. I’m honored I get to feel big feelings alongside you all. I’m posting it here too and want to use this space more consistently. Hello friends ❤️
I’ve been sharing this with friends and family and reposting when I see it here. Heartbreaking and powerful and full of truth to how so, so many of us are feeling. Thanks for creating and sharing it with us 🙏
The US is technologically inferior.
BYD's new 'Blade Battery 2.0' can add 400 km range in 5 minutes (70% charge) or full (97% charge) in 9 minutes.
If the US invested in infrastructure for people instead of war, like China does, we could also fill our electric car batteries up at 1500kW stations.
A WHOLE CIVILIZATION WILL DIE TONIGHT My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools. Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's "keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's "we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight." It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before. "It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time. A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead. @michaelfdubois Mukad A QuBoy @michacifdubois
Brutal.
Lab smiling with a stick in her mouth, eager to get it home and add it to the pile already there from previous walks
So sweet! When our stick-obsessed, bestest girl passes, hopefully many years from now, we’ll put up a stick & ball memorial library in the yard for all the neighborhood pups… 🥰🪵
Just the fact you’re wanting to try after everything that’s happened and is happening gives me hope! Go for it! 🎉❤️
What cool people you have in your life! May we all be so fortunate! ❤️🌄
SNL UK is absolutely putting its American counterpart to shame dear lord
I love Eclectic24 from KCRW, nice mix of genres and new/old(er), and some less-known musicians, too.
The West is appalled by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Couldn't care less about the blockade of Cuba, the invasion of Lebanon or the continuing Genocide in Gaza.
Two photos of elderly people engaging with children. The caption In seattle, a daycare nursing home were brought together. Older adults regain a sense of purpose, and children develop empathy and stronger emotional bonds.
This is awesome. And well overdue. Well done Seattle!
Many More Should Have Also Been Prosecuted….
This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.
This car costs $8500. Not a typo. Less than 10 racks. And you don't have to put gas in it.
But we can't have it in the US, because we'd rather have racism and argue about solved problems like birthright citizenship, and should Black people be allowed to vote.
So you get Cybertrucks instead. Enjoy!

"The idea that there are huge swaths of the United States populace who want and need the right wing’s unreality—their alternative reality—is a farce: a gaudy, festering artifice constructed and maintained by a million people who need it to be real for financial, political, and cultural purposes."

“Boots on the ground” ->
Soldier shooting at people and getting shot at. Sometimes killing, sometimes dying. Often getting wounded physically and psychologically. Might accomplish a mission if their commanders know what the mission is.
Just heard on NPR that “people on the ground” is a better phrase than “boots on the ground” since we are actually sending people, human beings, into harm’s way… I think any small thing we can say or do to show the actual cost of war is worth doing…
Dem leadership should be telling everyone that this is the talking point.
