Another fantastic demo, and one that absolutely blew me away, was Eighthwell by Lutum Games.

This is an action-adventure that really channels 16-bit Zelda games, Undertale and Earthbound, and it has plenty of charm and humour to boot.

One to watch!

Here's a little taste of the music in #Eighthwell! This one's from a boss fight.

Thanks! I really like how this rain effect came out, I'll have to find excuses to add more rain to the game.

I've been doing some music updating and marketing work this week.

Another vote for Aseprite. Even paid it's pretty cheap.

That's a good way of looking at it

Even marketing? 😲

No, this is the only account I use at the minute.

That does sound satisfying. That's one I haven't done myself yet.

I was fixing a bug with how the player taking damage in my game was being handled last week and I really hope I never have to dig deep into that stuff again, I have no recollection of how any of it works and it is not easy to figure out what's going on 😅

You may be in an unhealthy relationship with your game engine 🤣

It really is addictive sometimes. No I can't go to bed until this bug is fixed 😂

And then it's just really nice to see all the shiny new stuff in game 😄

Ah there'll definitely be a good bit of overlap then haha.

Weekend long game jams are super hard to be fair. Working with a team if you aren't already might help if you're newer to them.

I love doing the pixel art for my game, especially the animations! Really looking forward to when I can just sit and do a chunk of art for the next area in my game 😊

Would you find you do a lot of similar stuff in your job? I program for work as well but I tend to find there isn't really a lot of overlap with my job and game dev.

I completely get the unnecessary systems, Eighthwell did not need a whole fishing mini game but it's probably going to have one anyway 😂 That's a great way to be, you're way more likely to stick with a project if you're having fun making it!
