Listening to women is not optional - it is fundamental to safe care - and that is why we need a Maternity Commissioner.
Yesterday, the BBC covered my speech on the proposed petition to appoint a Maternity Commissioner โฌ๏ธ

What I've been up to this weekend:
โ Held a coffee morning in Lowdham
๐ช Spent time across the constituency knocking on doors
๐ถ Joined the Hucknall Ukulele Group in Newstead Village as they recorded a music video in support of the Hucknall Against Whyburn Farm Development campaign
Lovely as always to catch up with Hucknall Wildlife Group who today shared with me findings of their survey of wildlife on Whyburn Farm and Misk Hills ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ
The group have found more than 90 species on Whyburn Farm & Misk Hills - a reminder of why we are fighting to protect our precious Green Belt ๐
I remain committed to ensuring that compassionate, clear and consistent communication is at the heart of maternity care ๐
The discussion brought together voices from across policy, practice and research to explore how we can better support families at some of the most difficult moments they may face.
This week, in my role as Chair of the Maternity APPG, I joined an important roundtable at @ucl.ac.uk on improving communication during adverse gestational events.
This new strategy will put womenโs voices at the heart of their care, cut waiting times for conditions like endometriosis and fibroids, and finally tackle outdated attitudes to womenโs pain.
โน๏ธ More information on the strategy here: www.gov.uk/government/n...
Since becoming an MP, I have worked tirelessly on women's health, especially as Chair of the PCOS APPG and the Maternity APPG.
NEW: Women's Health Strategy ๐ง๐ฉ๐ต
Todayโs renewed Womenโs Health Strategy is a major step forward in tackling health inequalities.
The ยฃ1,550,747 investment will go towards essential roof and drainage repairs to protect the historic building and its collections, ensuring the site remains open for future generations to enjoy!
ยฃ1,550,747 FOR NEWSTEAD ABBEY ๐ท
Sherwood Forest is proud to have Newstead Abbey, the former home of the poet Lord Byron โ๏ธ
Almost 1,000 households across Sherwood Forest rely on heating oil.
This morning, I urged the Government to extend support to everyone who relies on heating oil, especially vulnerable families with no alternative source of heating ๐
Best Start in Life Family Hubs for Rainworth, Hucknall, Calverton and Ollerton โ
My latest column for the Newark Advertiser ๐
A pleasure to join the Misk Hills protest in Hucknall yesterday ๐ฃ
"What is important in this fight is that we remain undivided, we have to stick together on this and fight it together" ๐
This builds on our wider cost saving measures for families:
โ
Best Start free breakfast clubs
โ
Expanding free school meals
โ
Cutting school uniform costs
โ
Scrapping the two child limit
Rainworth, Hucknall, Calverton and Ollerton will see new Best Start Family Hubs open, building on our proud legacy of Sure Start, reviving family services and putting them back at the heart of our communities.
๐ข I've secured FOUR Best Start Family Hubs for Sherwood Forest ๐ฉโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ง
โ๏ธ Last week I wrote to the Secretary of State for Housing to request a joint meeting with the wider Hucknall community so that he can hear concerns directly from residents about Whyburn Farm and Misk Hills development proposals ๐
Together, we agreed to write to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to request a holding intervention.
If you share our concerns, I strongly encourage you to add your name to the letter by 5pm on 8th April.

โ๏ธ SIGN my letter to the Secretary of State to call for holding intervention on the planning application for 100 houses on Common Lane ๐
I recently met with residents in Hucknall to discuss the future of Whyburn and Misk Hills.
I've written Nottinghamshire County Council to ask how they'll be using that money to benefit children right here in Sherwood Forest - updates to follow.
โโโ Incredible news - Labour has just released over 16 MILLION pounds to support children with SEND in Nottinghamshire - the biggest single funding allocation to deliver more places for children with SEND on record ๐
Royal Mail is more than just a company - itโs a vital public service and a proud British institution. But chronic understaffing, high turnover, and worsening conditions are pushing it to breaking point. Itโs time for urgent action.
I spoke about the unacceptable delays affecting constituents in Clipstone, who have gone over 5 months without a reliable postal service. I also shared how personal this issue is to me, as the daughter of a postie who served for over 30 years.
๐ฎ Last week's debate on Royal Mail performance showed just how much this issue matters to people across the country. It was so heavily subscribed that the 30 MPs - myself included - were given just 1 minute 30 seconds to speak.

Today during an emotional Westminster Hall debate, I spoke about something no parent should ever have to endure - the loss of a child and the unbearable weight of not knowing why.
My speech ๐
I have secured ๐
๐ท ยฃ8,969,000 for Lowdham
๐ท ยฃ40,000 for Hucknall
๐ท ยฃ24,000 for Oxton
I'm pleased to have secured ยฃ9,033,000 for flood defences in Sherwood Forest ๐ง
Flooding has caused real worry and disruption for families and businesses across this constituency, and so strengthening our local defences is absolutely essential.
