Here its is. A talk from @nmeans.dev This talk is what put The Field guide to Understanding 'Human Error' on my to-read list. "Human error is never the cause. [It's] always a symptom..." Basically, blaming human error stops us from understanding the cause.

See, now this is a great use of technology. I’ve been talking about hyperlinked citations for years.
A win! A judge just blocked the Trump admin from strangling hundreds of wind and solar projects nationwide. Chief Judge Denise Casper issued a preliminary injunction, striking down a policy that required every wind and solar project to get personal sign-off from Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.
The AI Hallucination Cases database shows six CoCouncels (so far):

Thanks! I’ll check it out.
The official seal of the United States Supreme Court, featuring a circular design with the words “Supreme Court of the United States” surrounding a central emblem of a balanced scale of justice and a laurel wreath, symbolizing law, authority, and fairness.
🧵 The arguments behind landmark Supreme Court rulings have never been freely available… until now.

For those interested (and to your point), I have seen at least one sanction order flowing from CoCounsel’s fake quotes (from the Sixth Circuit): www.opn.ca6.uscourts.gov/opinions.pdf...
My (probably pedantic) issue is that the misuse/malpractice is on the lawyer not the AI.
Yup
I’m sure it is but 1) surely there have been enough public stories for lawyers to know better and 2) it seems to me the process of verifying wipes out all the time savings of using the tech in the first place (though maybe not for less experienced writers).
"In his early years as a district judge, Judge Albright became notorious in the patent community for encouraging litigators to file patent infringement suits in Waco. Since he was the only district judge in the division, all cases would go to him."
It is misconduct for sure but that’s too broad (since there is still plenty not due to AI). I do like sloplaw.
I’m sure there are use cases that are appropriate in law practice (not sure I’d go as far as necessary) but generating legal analysis without verifying the content sure ain’t one of them.
Also, what are we calling this phenomenon? I need a shorthand. “AI misuse” doesn’t really fit but I haven’t come up with something better. It’s nothing new for lawyers to file briefs with errors, sloppy citation, etc. but this is a more specific category.
I know I shared this yesterday but this one stands out in the steady stream of sanctions for court filings with errors due to AI use. It’s both mind- boggling and unsurprising at the same time.
Incredible thread. The level of in person community-building and mutual aid that came out Minneapolis is unprecedented in modern American times.
I’m sorry, that’s hard.
Imma be obnoxious through Friday about my Sixers. Idc.
Yeah he’s good—I regret not picking him. My son did. I have Sherry, Anthony and Oscar.
I like Top Chef too but I haven’t gotten too invested in any of them (though all my chefs for my fantasy TC group are still in).
Same! Buddha is so competitive he’s always fun to watch. I also like the scoring, though I wish they’d show more of it. I was sad at the last elimination—one of my favorites.
Have you watched Padma’s show? I like it better than this season of Top Chef.
I wish the setting to require alt text was required instead of optional.
Are you annoyed that photos on Bluesky won’t load right now? Are you frustrated because you’re missing important context on certain skeets?
Great, now you understand why it’s important to always include alt text on your photos.

I’m enjoying using my imagination to fill in the sea of black boxes on my feed.
"The errors are the latest example of a professional services firm grappling with the use of cutting-edge technology to speed up laborious research and cut down on staffing while also trying to maintain quality standards."
There's your problem right there.
It’s not just you. Half the images in my feed are black squares
Nope
Always read Will Bunch’s pieces. Also, in his newsletter, he answered my question posed of which Senate seats have the best chances of flipping R to D.
I will admit I especially hope the state I grew up in, Iowa, flips. I’d also love to see Sherrod Brown elected and Texas flip. The more the better!
