Ah I get you now. I'm Southern posh so don't say cooker like a Northerner would. Snooker is one of many weird "sports" that have been popular in the UK forever so the "snoo" is innate for us!

That's my point - it seems "right" to me. What's the alternative pronunciation of "snoo"?

I cannot phonetically imagine any other way of saying it. What am I missing?

Found yet another way to throw money in the pursuit of music. DAP and another set of headphones.

Budget stuff this time with a FiiO pairing of a JM21 DAP and FT1 🎧

Sounds remarkable for the money in my opinion.

Consider filling the gap with Wildfrost and/or Across The Obelisk.

Both are *super* and give hours and hours of fun in a similar vein to StS.

I was dazzled by your appreciation of just how long your stocks would last and then confused by your prioritisation of things when the World is on the brink of an Orange storm caused by Captain Incontinence.

I'd probably focus on at least amassing a deep supply of lasagne ahead of bogroll.

Dear Scotland,

The A82 South of Glencoe needs resurfacing. All of it. Badly.

Kind regards,

Nice note through the post from EE explaining how the replacement *rebranded* router they forced upon me when previous kit was working fine has unfortunately necessitated a price increase.

Looking forward to the service & stability improvements that these infrastructure hikes must surely bring.....

Meteorological disappointment

Meteorological disappointment

I've thoroughly enjoyed basking in the sunshine for the past few days. Seems like an apt moment to check on the forecast for my jaunt up to The Highlands at the end of the week.

Oh.

In contrast, your man's feline pal here (Smudge) barfed and coated four carpeted stairs last night at approximately 11:30pm last night. Furry little twat.

Nothing wrong with him, he just eats like a maniac and it bounced. We feed him last thing at night to stop him waking us at 6am.

5am today 😡

I today endured the pain of a newly-opened Lidl where some bright spark decided it would be a good idea to have mini-trolleys for kids to clutter up aisles already heaving full of tracksuit-wearing fatsos buying shite.

I've quickly decided I'm not going in there again unless it's the 9-10pm slot.

Treat yourself to Bubbles by Yosi Horikawa. It's an "audiophile" recommendation that dorks like me suck up to test out headphones and speakers.

A multicoloured swoosh of New Balance Fuel Cell Rebel running shoes

I have an unhealthy addiction to New Balance Fuel Cell Rebel running shoes.

Currently have three pairs in my rotation and have had at least four other pairs before 😬

The app is decent so they have some grasp of tech and just need to improve that end-of-shop transaction.

i.e. - the faster the better. Let me out.

If they sort it so I can scan as I go and then tap out to pay when I leave, then I'm onboard. Having to actually queue at a till or scan my items one-at-a-time at a checkout feels at least a decade out of date.

I don't like people. Don't make me spend any longer than I need in a shop FFS.

I didn't appreciate just how much of a snob I am until navigating a first ever (I know!) shopping trip into Lidl.

Was like a mash-up of all sorts of stuff. I had to queue to pay FFS. But cat food was £3.49 so I'm conflicted.

Plus do you really still have to put a quid in a trolley like it's 1993?

It's moments like these that my lack of a PC feels like a spiteful void in my life.

I do miss out on a lot of options not having one...

I officially have a roguelite card deck-builder issue.

Have been playing a lot of Pirates Outlaws after bouncing off it first time round. So I've obviously gone and bought Roguebook for the ridiculous £1.67 it currently costs and am set to pick up Across The Obelisk too.

A hard to decipher and then comprehend fact is that my three trips into the office in the past three weeks, represent 20% of my total number of trips into the office in the past six years.

And I don't like it. Far too frequent. Trousers before 9am feels unacceptable.

Made a rare trip into the office today to pick up a new laptop and I don't know who exactly Dell think they are but the bastards have switched the HDMI connection from left to right and that DESTROYS my cable management infrastructure.

Absolutely livid*

*not actually, but still. Bastards.

@raphlife.bsky.social I was just idly wandering back from town in the UK with some shopping.

Heard some crows and instinctively started looking for a corpse or carcass. What has your game done to me?! 😅

I'm ambivalent about going on holiday and made the mistake of assuming my wife would generate a lot of hot air about wanting to go away but would ultimately fail to book anything.

She didn't.

Costly mistake.

I can't remember a week abroad costing North of £5k before. Is this new or am I an idiot?

If I have to explain to my CFO even one more time that the things they're looking for me to isolate and reconcile are not mutually exclusive, I will let out a sad little whimper.

May just have to invoke the use of my favourite custom Excel function: SMOKEANDMIRRORS and make things balance.

One (the only?) perk of having no fashion sense and giving no shits about that stuff, is that I feel like the three tops I bought from Fat Face at 75% off represent astute acquisitions.

I can't say that I especially like them, but I am no longer cold. No more clothes shopping required until 2028 😎

I have to enter races to get me out of a general malaise which is fine by most standards, but just pottering about for 25-35 miles a week just feels a bit habitual rather than purposeful.

I don't want to be competitive or fast, just to be at least a smidgen committed and focused.

Onto beer #6.
