I would add that not only they should not mock the field of gender studies, but that fashion studies and history are also turning to be quite a serious, and not frivolous expertise.
En route to Philly and the #OAH, hope to see you there. If you are in the neighborhood come to our roundtable today at 2:45 on writing fashion histories.
I don’t know if this is purposeful or not, but check out the font the aha is using - if you needed proof this is probably not a nazi move

While I can see why it gives you the feeling, I won’t read to much into it. And fwiw, the official nazi font, like many other things they appropriated was popular before they made it official, so it could also be the case, of ”that’s what I learned as a kid and I didnt care enough to change”

To all those who is wondering: senate dress code mandates a tie and a jacket to be on the floor (they tried to change it but the Rs blocked them) so this is Fetterma’s way of complying with the rules.
Not sure that booming Philly would be much better though…but I’ll see you there
As usual, @americanstudier.bsky.social’s threads do not disappoin. check it out
No. I came across this article because it was on a topic I’m writing - and was surprised to find myself there. The funny thing that there was a google link attached, but it was broken (because the article doesn’t exist)
*alerted
I was cited in an hallucinated citation in an article, and when I altered the editor, they didn’t care. It’s good that this editor thinking about retracing- but the problem is bigger than that
I had a similar thing and I told the editor and they didn’t care
See you there
I’m sure that JD is not aware of it, as many others, but in order to get a working visa as a non citizen you have to show that there aren’t American citizens who can do your job. This is literally built in to the requirements of the visa.
I‘m being reminded of all the criticism and pearl clutching a few months ago when Minneapolis mayor said the f-word with relations to ICE. We got hours and hours of discussion of it in the news. I’m sure it would be the same reaction now that the president did it.
Nan Enstad is definitely on the lis. thank you for the 1970s recommendations, I was looking for something about 9to5
Thank you!
Thanks. I did know Boydston’s book but the others are definitely on the list :)
Question to all of you labor historians and others: if you had to assign readings on "Labor and Feminist Culture" - broadly defined, but US focused, what would you include? 🗃️
Ok, this is funny

The “wine moms” in my neighborhood have tens of thousands of hours of PTO, meal drives, bake sales and you name it under their hands. These are professional organizers who can rally up entire communities in like 3 text messages. I cant understand why people underestimate them.
