So... I moved to Italy and started over again. Apologies for an enternal absence. It's been an interesting spring.

I can't understate how immensely frustrating it is to watch my home country fall into fascism while constantly filtering through discussions on how 'we didn't see it coming.'

Crack a book. It's been on the horizon for decades.

El Capitan displays a massive American flag upside down—the traditional signal of distress or extreme emergency.

Eventually you gotta hone into that idea where you write for yourself and you never have to justify or reason to anyone why you do this. Your pursuit towards this goal can be severed from the hustle, and it frees you from needing to make every moment of life 'productive'.

Not to be too post-lyrics-that-vaguely-hint-at-current-events, but Something Bad is happening in Oz, and it's impossible to ignore.

Well, it looks like this next project is a go. Feminist Gothic horror, here we come

Yeah, I do that. LibreOffice if you want something similar to MS Word, but personally I prefer Scrivener and have used it for years. One-time purchase, fantastic for everything.

but it really depends what grammar you're following. CMOS is the American publishing standard. UK grammar dictates there's only a capitalisation after a full stop, so same thing.

According to the CMOS 12.43 on faltering speech and incomplete thoughts, looks like you don't capitalise afterwards when it's in dialogue like that.

Reading through this WIP outline again and adding bits to the end, I'm feeling inspired. It's got all the heart I want with sprinkles of absurdity. Exactly what life should have, really.

My parents put me in my first writing class when I was about 10. It set it all off, but still Ieft writing many times after that. These days, I write because I must, and that's all there is to it.

So my goal for january was to draft 25k, and with a week left I'm looking at 17k. I dunno, y'all, maybe setting goals really does work.
