I think about this all the time

A depressing reality of the capitalist hellhole we live in

Breakthroughs not deemed immediately profitable and too expensive are shoved aside regardless of their long term value

It's kinda fucked up to think that the only reason this is possible is because of the covid 19 pandemic

mRNA vaccines were pretty much given up on before it.

Yomi no Tsugai has already shifted into its final form: very funny, uncanny sitcom

Official statements noted that the Witch Hat Atelier anime was, under Shirahama's supervision, expanding on the original work. And it hasn't been until the incredible third episode that we've really seen what they meant, with Coco's test being fleshed out & connected more firmly to her character arc

"No only does the animation staff in the second episode continue to mirror FMA 2003, but also the ending is a solo Norimitsu Suzuki sequence with familiar textures & volume" ok bro!!! You're showing off at this point!!! It rules though!!!!

this also makes me think of how far we could have gotten today if we didn't abandon deep space exploration after the 70s

despite the major technological advancements we're just catching up to what they managed to achieve in the 1960s with artemis 2

watching the earlier stream of artemis 2 splash down giving me so many goosebumbs

such an insane feat

I'm one of those trans women. I worked ground ops for Artemis I.

I am torn between celebrating the success of my friends and peers and grieving how my dream of working for NASA was shattered by hateful assholes in Tallahassee

congratulations to the astronauts who get credit for a moon mission using rocket development work by trans women who had to quit their job and flee the state of florida and can’t celebrate this win with their coworkers

the concerns seem credible but hopefully it doesn't lead to full on disaster

not me seeing recent articles about the artemis II re-entry at risk of becoming another columbia disaster the day before they splash down

Some news from NASA:

“The crew of Artemis II are now the farthest any human has ever travelled, reaching a maximum distance of 252,752 miles from Earth.

This surpasses the previous record set by Apollo 13 in 1970 by about 4,102 miles.”

Exploring the Far Side of the Moon: A Visual History Lunar exploration has always held a strange position in the history of exploration. For all of human history, people have been staring up at the Moon, and for centuries astronomer used telescopes t…

To get ready for Artemis II's encounter with the Moon, I put together a visual history of lunar far side exploration. It's mostly images and maps, meant partly as an introduction to identifying a few prominent far side features.

Yomi no Tsugai isn't just another Arakawa adaptation: it's at BONES, led by a director adjacent to her work & with sensibilities that have remained as those of the late 00s. It starts with an episode closely supervised by FMA's character designer. Damn right you can promote this as the new FMA

The Yomi no Tsugai premiere is as ridiculous(if not more) as the chapter it is adapting

I'm really excited for the rest

while the push for less tech dependency is a net positive, i do think it's largely a consequence of rising global conservatism

people are finding comfort and safety in the idea of living in the past

Building a time machine so that David Productions' lead producer doesn't end up at Netflix #goals

1 month ago 139 20 2 0

instead of releasing each episode as it completes production

3 weeks ago 3 0 1 0

it's funny because it's eventually gonna air weekly on TV anyway why not just wait until then

3 weeks ago 3 0 1 0

I understand why people are mad that they're not getting a new episode after a random Netflix account said it'd be a weekly release (which actually referred to its eventual broadcast, I guess?), but also, bro there is no show to release yet. Greatly underestimating how advanced the production is
