Y'all! I fired the first three mimics and they came out just like I had hoped. The other fifteen or so will get fired a few at a time while I work on my VARF kilns. I do this so if there is some sort of kiln disaster I can't lose all of them.

I love this jar because who doesn't love mushrooms? I hate this jar because it has eight million delicate protuberences on it and packing it to take around to shows is going to be a nightmare. I would ask what I was thinking when I made it, but it was just "Mushroomπ€©π" #lgbtqartist

The weather has finally been good enough that I can start glaze firing my mountain of bisqueware! I am going to guess that I have another six or so glaze kilns worth of bisque. This gorgeous jar is a gas reduction piece that came back recently, and I love her.

The kiln goblins have claimed their toll. I have to drive my greenware to the kiln I share with another artist, which means that sometimes I lose a piece before it ever reaches the kiln. This was a nice, light, even mug, so I'll just have to make another one.

Third bisque kiln this week went in this morning, and not only did none of the mimics crack, the braided handle mug didn't crack either!

I have it on extremely good authority that all transwomen get a podcast. I would love to add yours to my rotation.

My home LARP does a fundraiser every year and I donate a custom mug voucher. This year's winner went into bisque yesterday, so I want to show it off while it cools and I wait to find out if that braided handle cracks. π
Oh that's awesome! Congrats to her and great job helping her hone her skill! π
It is also my bane. Stupid glaze fire unwinding.
Oh hey! There's a second one too, just in case there's a kiln mishap. Best case scenario you get to pick the one you like more. ππ
One of the commission pieces I am working on for Drachenfest US this year. This is going to be fired in cone 10 gas reduction with a blue rutile glaze. (The color is cheap watercolors that I is to "plan" my carving)

What better way to spread the larval form? *evil laugh*
Finally non-icy enough for me to get some bisque kilns fired! Half the mimics went in on Monday, other half will be in the 2-3 more firings I plan to do this week

So, the mimics did not stop after Imbolc. They have stopped now, but only because I really do need to throw mugs for VARF. But look at their face! They are so bitey!

They don't stop coming! Mimics until Imbolc! I was wrestling with some reclaim throwing today so my hands are tired and I have a lot of reclaim blocks wrapped in wet car towels.

Obsessed with my mimics. Will be making as many as I can before Imbolc (that's when I shift over to making a few hundred mugs for the spring faire season)

Oh I love him! That wicked little smirk! 10/10, quality goblin
Do not obey in advance. Do not make their day easier. ICE agents don't get to have good days. Take up their time. Make them precisely and exhaustively explain themselves. If you can misunderstand them, do. Channel your inner toddler and passively resist.
Starting a mimic collection, meet my first little guy, Bowl-gagwa.

What a sweet thing to say! I think my biomechanics/technique was off, honestly. I've been throwing a lot of mug-sized things lately and sometimes it can take a session to get back into the groove of working with more clay that isn't so easily muscled into behaving.
I think of throwing as creating the inside of the vessel, and trimming as creating the outside, so I like trimming too.

Some more lovelies from the last kiln! These were an exercise in throwing thin -- the goal was 5" x 3", 12 oz of clay. It was a fun exercise and helped me really get a feel for how thin the clay can get under my hands before I lose it. Also, my studio has nothing pretty *and* useful for scale in it.
Okay, but hear me out, have you considered a lucrative new line of pencil cups?
Twelve reproductions of the Gotland cup thrown in four color agateware. The insides and handles of the cups are glazed colorfully, while the outsides of the cups are left unglazed to highlight the depth of color of the natural fired clay.
I'm not supposed to be working right now, no one tell my partner.I had a shit day for throwing, struggled to get some measly 3lb balls to center. Ended up with one teapot body instead of four, but got some photos of the recent kiln load at least.

That's me when it's time to handle them.
Wheel-thrown cone 10 stoneware carved vase, glazed in blue rutile over warm brown clay, and about 11" tall. There are oval gestural carvings of leaves around the top 4" that pierce through the walls of the vase, and long white driplines extend from the bottom of each leaf where the carvings have channeled the molten glaze's flow.

Hi everyone! I mailed off my last pre-holiday custom order today so I finally have more time for social media. Have a gas reduction vase for being so patient! A friend described this as 'Galadriel's kitchen vase in Lorien', such an amazing compliment.

I see it as iterations on a theme -- in this case it's the curious octopus exploring an object. This was my first try and, if he hadn't tried to lose a tentacle by cracking at the base in the glaze kiln, I would have sold him and iterated. Instead he gets to live with me and I'm iterating anyway.

I started playing around with toroids recently, and this sculptural vase is one of those experiments. I love himb, but he's definitely a step on the journey of this idea. Cone 10 gas reduction, expect to see more like him as I work through this idea.

Thank you so much! I love my Fire and Earth series and I am so glad others like it too.
