Only 4 days left to apply for the 5-day @IOCCG /EUMETSAT Multi-sensor Satellite Ocean Colour course, held in Darmstadt after December's IOCS meeting. Advanced training on single-sensor processing considerations & synergy. Support available trainingevents.eumetsat.int/trui/events/...
Poster day for @brloveday.bsky.social and I at #LPS25. Pop by poster U19 to learn about our growing set of interactive @unoceandecade.bsky.social case studies and our latest one exploring the #DestinE DEA storytelling service!
Join us at #LPS25 and chat with our team about the future of Earth observation, #CopernicusAtmosphere and #CopernicusClimate.
You can find details of the sessions in which our experts are participating, as well as meet-and-greet opportunities with our directors.
Welcome to @esa.int #LPS25! The @eumetsat.int booth can be your first stop as you enter the beautiful exhibition. Pop by and talk to me and @brloveday.bsky.social about marine data, #Sentinel3 and #Sentinel6 and any of your user needs πππ°οΈ
Thanks to the #LPS25 trainees who came to our UN Ocean Decade tutorial yesterday. If you want to discuss the Copernicus #Sentinel-3 or #Sentinel-6 marine workflows we used (available here: tinyurl.com/EUM-OCS), please drop by the @eumetsat.int booth and chat to @hayleyeversking.bsky.social or me!
A satellite ocean colour image showing a recent Harmful Algal Bloom in southern California
If you're already heading to #LPS25 and are interested in how marine data can help address the @unoceandecade.bsky.social challenges - join our @eumetsat.int tutorial tomorrow Sunday 22nd June 1700-1820 in Room 1.61/1.62 together with @osi-saf.eumetsat.int and @copernicusmarine.bsky.social πππ°οΈ
All aboard the #LPS25 train. See you all soon! Drop by the @eumetsat.int booth if you wanna chat to us about marine EO data. @hayleyeversking.bsky.social
In early 2025 southern California was affected by a serious harmful algal bloom. Satellite data, such as that from Copernicus Sentinel-3 & others supports the monitoring & management of these blooms & their impacts bit.ly/4ndbsY0 @hayleyeversking.bsky.social @brloveday.bsky.social
How do satellites help protect our oceans? π
@eumetsat.int marine expert Hayley Evers-King explains how data from Copernicus ocean-monitoring satellites support everything from weather forecasts to ocean policy and ocean health π°οΈ
Come to exchange with @brloveday.bsky.social and @hayleyeversking.bsky.social for @eumetsat.int, @gwenbras.bsky.social for @osi-saf.eumetsat.int and Fabrice Messal for @copernicusmarine.bsky.social | @mercatorocean.bsky.social !
This image shows a 'diatom bloom' off the California coast, captured by Sentinel-3 on April 6.
A toxin producing species (Pseudo-nitzschia) makes this a harmful algal bloom, impacting marine life along the coast. Our partners at NOAA have been monitoring the event, read more here: bit.ly/3GWOaom
Calling all oceanographers, ocean forecasters & ocean modellers; last change to sign up for @eumetsat.int webinar on using of altimetry to support ocean forecasting. Register at trainingevents.eumetsat.int/trui/events/.... Experts from CLS_group and @mercatorocean.bsky.social on hand for questions.

In addition to the immediate societal impacts, flood events can have long term impacts on water quality & marine ecosystems. This case follows the impacts that floods after Storm Daniel had on the Thessaly & Volos regions of Greece between 2023 & 2024 bit.ly/4jo3zwr #remotesensing #earthobservation

Aurorae & sea surface height may seem unrelated but they arenβt if you are an altimetrist! Find out how solar storms affect our ability to measure sea level & how we correct for it in this Copernicus Sentinel-6 marine case study bit.ly/3REFB3I #earthobservation #remotesensing @brloveday.bsky.social
Love to know your band recipe for this one!
π Happy #WorldWaterDay! π
The ocean regulates our climate, supports biodiversity, and sustains life.
#CopernicusMarine provides #OpenData on:
βͺ Sea ice
π’ Ocean biogeochemistry
π΅ Sea surface temperature & more
This data is key to supporting sustainable ocean management worldwide
Seems that the image was missed from this post! Here it is in all its glory; a nice false colour visible/NIR RGB of A23a from Copernicus #Sentinel-3 #SLSTR.
Not something you see everyday; the SarandΓ Canal in Buenos Aires running red after a possible textile dye leak! Captured here by Copernicus #Sentinel-2 on 06.02.2025. Reported by the BBC at www.bbc.com/news/article...
Last chance to apply for our EUMETSAT Supporting Marine EO Application course! If you want to learn about using our altimetry, SST, ocean colour, sea-ice or wind data, or have workflows you want to co-develop with us, then apply before Friday! Details below (apply at: tinyurl.com/EUM-SMA-2025)

Aww, thanks Marco! :)
I'm hiring! If you're a marine EO specialist looking for opportunities to support an operational agency, then check out this position; www.space-careers.com/job_display/.... Applicants must be eligible to live/work in EU & ideally based near Darmstadt, Germany. DM me for clarifications.
Image didn't caption, but this is from the CMEMS MyOcean Pro viewer. Layer view is here: data.marine.copernicus.eu/-/tqgd8rbpgq
I just had a quick check of the wind-wave context. Just a guess, but I think the fairly significant (10+ m/s) northerly winds on the days preceding the image, and associated high SWH probably resulted in some increased, but trapped, sediment resuspension, which was then "released" late on Nov 16th.
A brand new "fresh-slate" for ocean colour imagery! Where to begin....
An image of the central Adriatic Sea. Land is on brown/green and the ocean on dark blue and turquoise blue close to the coast. The turquoise waters present many filaments and meanders. The text recalls the info about the Ocean Remote Sensing session: OS4.4 Ocean Remote Sensing EGU 2025 27 April - 2 May Deadline 15 January
Time to advertise the Ocean Remote Sensing session at #EGU25! Please consider submitting an abstract in any aspect of the field of remote sensing on the ocean π
See here the terms of reference and the link to submit the abstract: meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU25/sessio...
