I get the feeling though that at this point, he won't be bullied into anything unless it's more to the right to try and appease Reform, which won't work. Even though I agree about the chopping and changing, I think you can only push so far.

Has anyone done the “I shall play this only once” joke?

I was just too young to experience Going Live, so only ever knew Live and Kicking, but everything obviously shifted when Jamie and Zoe left and SMTV Live started figuring itself out at the same time. Steve and Emma were lovely but always a step down.

Does anyone have Channel 4's 100 Greatest TV Treats of 2002 please?

I do feel in hindsight like both channels were a mistake to create back in the early 2000s, especially as they diluted BBC Two massively.

I’d love to know if they were all in that shoot at the same time. The egos of Edmonds and Madeley in particular would’ve kept the others out.

I had an idea which was to do one of those Back in Time shows the BBC used to do, but called Back in Time for the Ads. Cover a different year in each video from 1955 onwards, maybe dress in appropriate clothing for the time and review different products!

Well, they fired Steve Whitmire for various reasons and Matt Vogel was already a fellow Muppet performer they trust. But yes, Vogel’s not as good, if only because we’re so used to Whitmire (and Jim Henson of course).

Poisoned chalice? The BBC’s struggles to find a successor to Tim Davie As the director general prepares to stand down, potential candidates have fallen away amid a series of crises

I think a lot of it was because nobody wanted the job unfortunately.

There are two times of year when you really notice the lack of popular hit sitcoms and sketch shows. Christmas TV and Comic Relief Night.

Yep. Combination of not enough material, smaller budgets, streaming etc. means those days are sadly long gone and yes I know I seem to say/think this every year for the past decade.

“In preparing our star-studded bill of wit, humour, fun and frolics, it has been suggested that we included something by The Goodies…to provide a bit of contrast.”

Not Comic Relief the charity, just Red Nose Day itself. It was definitely a 90s/early 00s thing that couldn’t survive.

The combination of the actual event being reduced from an all-night affair to just 3 hours, changing from bi-annual to annual, a lack of actual sitcoms/sketch shows, the rise of streaming, Sport Relief, charity fatigue and self-righteous celebrities (called out by David Lammy) means it needs to die.

"It's you that they answer to".

But I wouldn't be happy if it didn't include the complete Buzby set, as well as "It's for you-hoo" and the animal ones.

That’s great that you have that diagnosis. Can I ask how long it took to get this from initial consultation? Only because I’m considering it as I feel like I may be autistic as well.

This is very, very good news if it happens and a step in the right direction. I would argue that including it as part of council tax (levy or otherwise) is the least worst option for UK residents, which advertising and subscription made available for iPlayer overseas to increase revenue.

Stop paying comedians to go on holiday! Why comics’ travel shows need to end Alexander Armstrong, Lucy Beaumont, Bradley Walsh … when will commissioners stop sending standups to other nations? It’s not like they have any insight or connection to these places – it has to end

@mmaarrow.bsky.social I feel like you could've written this. 100% agree with it as well. www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

Same number of letters at least. Very good and unexpected choice! Really hope they do a general public edition.

Does anyone have any sway at BBC Wales? The sitcom High Hopes is not available on iPlayer and all 6 series and specials have never been released on DVD, denying the writers and actors royalties. The live chat I did on iPlayer's website was pointless; no requests allowed and very rude and dismissive.

I’m still trying to find all episodes of Comedy Nation. There are a few on YouTube but not many.

Having been listening to various remixes of Two Tribes and being reminded of the dreaded Threads, I'm glad the BBC News headline banner has finally reduced in size to normal. Feel like I can calm down a bit now.

Not you who has done it, but I do feel like this quite a lot. A bit like people saying you should go on a TV show or win a pub quiz, because you know there’s always someone out there better than you. I apologise if that sounds a bit big-headed. It probably says more about me than anything else.
