As someone who has been running multiple games for kids aged 8-14 for the last 6 years, I can say with enthusiasm that Jacob is 100% right on all three counts.
It isn't too complex, they have the attention span, and it can be lethal/have consequences.
I've been hesitant to say any of this online
"I'm sorry. Which deranged, offensive, aggrieved, unending Truth social post from the president over the past 24 hours are you referring to?"
Here we go, folks: the Coyote vs. Acme trailer has officially exploded onto the scene. https://bit.ly/4cKpKe9
"In 2003, the mighty Florida orange industry produced 242 million boxes of fruit, with 90 pounds of oranges per box, most of which went on to become orange juice. Now, not even 25 years later, the United States Department of Agriculture was forecasting a pitiful 12 million boxes of oranges."
My home group is currently in Tamoachan and turn based play is key to managing lighting, food, rest, wandering monsters, etc.
Big fun
I keep coming back to this #ttrpg post about, “The Dungeon Turn” or when dungeon exploration was done with turns rather than their formlessness now.
The #OSR seems to have left it behind also for meat grinding.
More regulation may offer more space.

NEW: Two local men promised to build housing with a 3D printer.
That didn’t pan out. When reporter Molly Parker started to investigate what went wrong, she found the printer disassembled on a flatbed truck at a country repair shop.
Then things got weird.

"Patel seems to think he dropped a world of hurt on The Atlantic when all he really did was show that both he and his attorneys seem to have been struggling with hangovers during their first year of law school."

Pakistani bridal dowries now routinely include four panels, an inverter and a battery:

This is an inversion of the normal order, in which rich countries get all the good stuff first, and countries like Pakistan get scraps after we've gorged ourselves.

New on the show today! The First Punic War: pirates, sieges, shipwrecks in storms and sacred, seasick chickens - PLUS the largest naval battle *in all of recorded history* - to guide us through this fascinating conflict is military historian extraordinaire @bretdevereaux.bsky.social
Republican redistricting efforts 1) happened first 2) were literally at the behest of the President 3) were not voted on
but guess which one gets critical op-eds from the political media
watch very closely as every single Republican who was crying about "the will of the voters" pivots to begging the courts to overturn the results of this referendum
It’s his day
Comic: Types of Board Game. [Each panel has a person, a person with a ponytail, a person with shoulder-length hair, and a person with a white hat seated around a table with different board game and pieces on top. (1) Boring: PERSON 3: Each turn, roll a die and move your token. Turns proceed clockwise around the table until we all get tired and go home. (2) Abstract: PERSON 1: Each turn, you can place any number of red triangles or blue squares on a hexagon, or move any hexagon to a... (3) Hyperspecific Theme: PERSON 2: It’s October 2, 1814. The Congress of Vienna convenes. You are each in charge of distributing and lighting candles for the opening ball, which was held at these three locations... (4) Overcomplicated: PERSON 4: It’s a cross between *Twilight Imperium* and *Cones of Dunshhire*, but implemented entirely in category theory. Every cone is a monad, and... (5) Cooperative: PERSON 3: We’re working together to sort these decks of cards using only hand gestures. After that, we’ll silently organize my junk drawer. (6) Branded: PERSON 1: You can play as Phoebe, Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Ross, Joey, or, due to an ill-advised tie-in, Goku. (7) Party: PERSON 2: Each of the cards in your hand has a bad word on it. On the count of three, yell the... (8) Social Deduction: PERSON 3: Remember, per our *find the secret murderer* house rules from last week, discovering that a player has committed a real-life murder does *not* count.

KERNEN: By the time Biden left, inflation was down to about 3%--
TRUMP: No it wasn't. It was down to 5%. And the reason it was down was because I had won the election and it started falling after I won the election and I started getting prices down from right after November 5
Trump: "There's one thing and nobody ever talks about it but me unfortunately, so I'm sure it's not correct, but I think it is. We should have the lowest interest rate in the world."
