Child psychologists when they see these new toys
Posts by Angdi (Andie) Chu
Even if it were safe, this kind of toys will be detrimental to children's social and possibly also language development. AI dialogues are not the same as real dialogues. It also provides kids with anxious tendency a way to avoid socializing with peers, encouraging full-blown social anxiety.
And here's our Feb story, which draws on 10+ individual cases we identified in which ChatGPT or another bot reinforced a user's delusional fixations on another person, leading to domestic abuse, harassment, and stalking:

Wait a second...If we think about behaviors from a perspective of wave physics (can we?!!), then most the EEG studies do not make sense at all. EEG data we see should be considered as the calculated results of information transformations and they should be analyzed as such, rather than single ERPs.
When you study cognitive psychology with an engineering background, things get so much easier. A linguistic model about brain oscillations decoding speech? Ah, Fourier transformation.
I have a wild hypothesis: autistic people can recognize other autistic people more accurately than most mental health professionals.

Mental health professionals and students should not glorify trauma. People are resilient and they do recover, but even for those who turned out very well later, there are still long-term consequences they have to handle. They can be proud of self, but you shouldn't shovel this narrative to them.
This AI slop (youtu.be/gtnt84CDP-s?...) is so great, that I started to secretly wish someone generates an AI version of Harry Potter "played" by all trans celebrities.
Hey, my name is not Tricia Squire and I did not authorize you to post my story.

Autism Speaks is for those autistic parents who want to make their kids "normal" rather than trying to work with their nature, not really for autistic people. Sadly, they are huge and seem to be everywhere, even in research labs. Main reason I decided not to do research in Autism-focused labs.
People still don't understand that if one is not ready to have a disabled kid, then they are not ready for having kids at all.
This is very interesting
Things will and are getting worse in the other side of the world. Whatever is happening in US has been interpreted as "democracy = bad" in many places. Trump and his team have ruined not only U.S., but also all the hard works that have been laid by generations of fighters in regimes w/o democracy.
Has anyone taken advantage of this once a year opportunity to tell guys who sent them dick pics that you would love to meet up for a good time tonight at 2 am? #daylightsavingtime
Also, the term for "self-harm" is non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in research literature, emphasizing the physical harms. How about non-physical self-harm behaviors? Just a thought here, maybe if we count in all the non-physical self-harm behaviors, the sex ratio of self-harm will be close to 1:1?
Discovered a Reddit sub section called "Roast Me". People think whoever post there are asking for attention. But most posts look like another form of self-harm to me. People don't pay too much attention on how cis men and boys harm themselves, just like how men have unique eating disorder symptoms.
Secondly, some institutions or companies may also use these programs as an excuse to not let diverse applicants compete in regular opportunities, since "there is already a diverse stream". A good practice is to consider diverse people's unique challenges, skills and potentials in EVERY application.
A separate job position or an award that states only for "diversity" is a bad practice for people from diver groups. Firstly, these programs diverts people's attention from applicants' abilities to their identities, therefore creates a false impression that these applicants are under-qualified.
This kind of low expectations on psychology undergrads actually creates an unequal environment for underprivileged students, because now only students who are familiar with the system know where to get more research trainings, then as a results they are the ones getting accepted in grad schools.
and will not even ask students to write a small proposal. We have taken more than 2 research method courses and the department still thinks psychology undergrads are unable to draft a proper proposal? This kind of application process seems to be easier, but it actually means less chances to learn.
award application processes, the opportunities for undergrads to do research, etc. For example, undergraduate research awards applications in our med school require applicants to write a proper research proposal and students' past research experience; but in psych department it is less professional,
but our psychology department (not all) tends to assume undergrads as older kids who do not have the ability to do professional works right and will heavily rely on faculties.
This reflects not on individual faculty members, but more on different departments' policies, such as
As my current supervisor is under the Schulich med school, I observed some differences in undergraduate educations between med school and psychology department in my university. Generally speaking, our med school see undergrads as young trainees who have the ability to do research with supervision;

Hi, thanks for this comment. However, my thoughts are from a curiosity of research aspect. Psychosis disorders are long suspected to be a spectrum condition than may even span to certain more extreme personality traits, which is why I made this comment
