#stormdarragh came to visit me last week. It didn’t go well. It required quite an operation to clean it up.

Thank you. There were times when I wished I’d just bought one!

Oh no! Gift it to someone? I know how much work big beds are… I’m sure someone would treasure it…

Finally finished the cherry king size bed. In my #woodworking career so far this has certainly been the biggest project in terms of timber quantity. Only very basic joinery, but challenging elsewhere. Now on to smaller things!

A legend in his own shower anyway…

The #woodworking continues now that I’m able to get back into the workshop. The headboard went together well, and now it’s on to the footboard and legs at the other end.

One of the many problems of #woodworking in a small workshop is that you have to assemble big pieces elsewhere. This king size bed still has a way to go, but bits are arriving in the right room at last, and I have a helper to get it built.

What are you struggling with?

I will. It wasn’t supposed to be a labour of love - in theory it’s easier because the joinery doesn’t need to be as precise, but logistically it’s been a nightmare! Here’s the headboard layout, that I did the initial cuts on today.

It's a king-sized bed made from Cherry. Had a selection of enormous 4x12 inch boards kicking around since Covid. The problem with those boards when they're over 7 feet long is how bulky they are. My machines aren't really made for it, so there was a lot done by hand.

So, I’ve managed to get back into the workshop over the last few weeks. I’m on the home stretch now for something I started in April 2023. Not quick progress, because timber was so big it was really difficult to dimension in my workshop. Almost there now though! #woodworking

Everything is well, thank you, although always busy, which is why I haven’t had time for photography. Woodwork scratches that creative itch though, and is much closer to home!

Lovely lovely. Such a soft feeling about them. Nice to see you, Colin!

Today brings the first big test of the job I’ve been doing since January. Millions of pounds riding on the team getting it right. The complexity involved in moving large scale legacy systems into new data centres is quite a sight to see. #cloudmigration

I just hope more people bring quality content. It’s a little quiet right now.

Not that I’m bringing any quality content…

Had you thought of drinking a cup of illiberal tears? It might give you the burst of energy you need…

For anyone kind enough to follow me, my apologies, but I’ll be boring until I remember how to post anything worthwhile on social media. Let’s hope this place is less toxic than the other.
