glitch by Paris Rosemont cover: a grey/teal tinged photo of a person in their underwear leaned back on their hands at the edge of a bed. at the edge of the frame, light comes through a window, illuminating their skin. On the things that don't kill me I carve myself into anaemic marble, chipping like a clockwork inmate serving a life sentence. Tired of furtive sidelong glances, of pitying eyes being told that this will only make me stronger. I know how it feels to fly like a ragdoll; imagine being an angel. Smudged violet sunsets fade and mangled wings will mend but what of my heart, my heart, my heart? Buckling under the burden of holding a crumbling world together in my feeble calf-leather hands, if the bough breaks, there's an awfully long way to fall. And there are countless ways to split open a piñata.

Release day TRANSMASC MARVEL GIRL sterling-elizabeth arcadia cover: a sinew like painting of interconnected hot pink strands on a flesh coloured beige.
i am normal and can be trusted with an empty movie theater the AMC slogan is “we make movies better,” but in my experience what they actually do is make movies a little washed out and blue. i wonder what happened to all the adult movie theaters. i’m not horny right now, it’s just the fact that i’m the only person in the theater makes me wonder if i could get away with rubbing one out. even though i’m not horny, i get turned off when a trailer for a ronald reagan biopic plays, followed by a trailer for national anthem (2024). national anthem (2024) is like, some queer, heavily americana drama, which i really think is a movie no one asked for. the queers i know all hate america, and the self-identified americans, well. i’m at AMC cherry hill to watch a movie about a singer songwriter who goes to a biker rally in south dakota. she leaves the home she shares with her ailing mother in ohio to take a chance on her music career. i used to be a musician. i moved to boston for it and quit just months later. the americana notes of the movie are unavoidable, but the romantic interest describes himself as a “fuck no, america” kind of guy. the cellist whose studio i was in when i went to boston turned out to be more interested in making a buck off me than anything else, plus i seriously fucked my back playing piano my first week there. sometimes if i masturbate for too long the injury acts up again. DEVICES OF BODY Joachim Li cover: a fairy tale-like painting of two bodies holding eachother, entwined. one figure's back faces the the viewer, styled like a cello or violin with strings over their spine and f-holes above their hips. both figures are surrounded by a swirling of yellow and purple and green on a background of multihued blue. 0x 1 I am a pair of worn shoes taking flight as kids rock on a swing, laughing Zippee Do! The rumours about happiness were true. I am a social GPT that's WIP scanning & downloading vibes in the room. I have a fear of spouting out error messages & silent screams of SEND HELP. I might care about tree health & pomegranate prices & fine dreams tomorrow through skin and fresh, keen eyes. I wish one day it would rain rose petals and that our galvanised membranes might melt like sugar domes as we rejoice in tears & speak the awkward words softly: think less, you're enough.
Moving between English, Chinese, Cantonese, and the liminal spaces between sound and silence, the poet reclaims what risks erasure. When nothing, not even selfhood, feels certain, Joachim Li's Devices of Body simply attempts to hold you close, hoping you will stay.

O maybe no one really does care. Maybe it is humiliating to
attempt anything.
I sincerely don’t know why poetry can be mortifying but tattoos can be cool.
I think everyone wants to make something touchable, but most of us don’t out of fear of being laughable.

there is no safety in monopolies for marginalized people. every new partner these companies attract (be it a library system, a chain store, indie shop, or small press) makes them only stronger. you don't end a monopoly (or protect a minority) by giving in.
REWILDING Fraser Knox cover: a fine lined drawing of a red blooming flower growing straight and tall from the midpoint of a rack of antlers. "A kind of madness took us. Consumed by the storm we ran through the scrub barefoot and screamed back at the sky when it roared and barked at us. We were caught out in the open, we had no modernity to shield us from the full might of nature. It was just us and the storm, and the storm would do with us what it pleased."
What does it mean to deeply observe the natural world around us with love and connection, knowing that we have already lost so much? What can the fierce, introspective heart truly offer in these times, and how may a trans body fully belong?

36 Views of My Breasts Billie Sainwood cover: a watercolour painting of two snow capped mountains nestled in a landscape of blue sky and lush fields. Breasts are a landscape ripe with tension. Breasts are celebrated, shamed, hated, and fetishized across the gender spectrum. Considered unsightly on men, fawned over on women, and, at best, tolerated on those drifting between. Having grown up as a fat “boy,” and transitioning into a woman, breasts were heavy and omnipresent all my life. This book is my attempt at charting my journey, from shame to glory and back again. kithbooks.com
Sainwood invites us to stand in communion with the flesh that has carried and carries, to trust in our own bodies, and to hold them in wonder as we watch them grow.

I don’t care about your legal name tell me your illegal name
we haven't said much about kith crit since cohort one was chosen but only because we've been HARD AT WORK. these eight book shaped projects are as exciting and inspiring as the authors attached. if you've wanted updates, the big one is this: COHORT TWO OPENS IN AUGUST. we'll work through the fall.
I'm flying home tonight and samples are waiting so, if all goes well, I'm going to get really annoying about loving trans people loudly in the next couple of days.

For anyone interested in being a traditionally published author, this is a good, realistic read. I share this not to be depressing, but so that upcoming authors have an understanding of the landscape: www.usatoday.com/story/money/...
