Walter Brueggemann (1933-2025) was a towering figure in biblical scholarship, a gifted preacher, a kind and generous soul, a gregarious character with an easy laugh…and a friend. He will be missed immensely.

Thank you for everything, Walter. Rest in peace.

It's the birthday of American naturalist John Burroughs (1837-1921). He wrote about the nature he found in his beloved Catskill mountains of New York; birds, hills, squirrels (even cows), the ordinary nature most of us encounter every day. We're drawn to spectacular vistas, but live in the ordinary.

It's the birthday of Ansel Adams (1902-1984). In a letter on 10/7/60, he wrote: "We either have wild places or we don't. We admit the spiritual-emotional validity of wild beautiful places, or we don't." Write your representatives & ask they keep public lands open for us not corporations #photography

I agree! I remember having to wait for the 3rd book to come out. The trilogy is one of my all time favorites. I reread it every 3-4 years or so.

Long walk in, clouds low obscuring the sky; then the sun shone through and I was in the right place at the right time. #photography, #wilderness,#Nikon
