Can we get Nathan Fielder to solve world peace? I trust him.

Some of the darkest days in America for sure
Yeah the whole threats of nuclear genocide is pretty bad, but have we forgotten that Obama chewed gum?
Bravery requires consent. By calling victims brave we minimize their experience. Call it what it is, it's survival.
The president of the United States, 8:06 am ET, threatens Iran: โA whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.โ
But escapism without some message about real, human life, kinda feels pointless.
I won't pretend like the Harry Potter books are bad by any objective metrics, but they feel cynical, almost intentionally, about human life. It's almost nefarious.
It's not bad to feel euphoria from this, either. The parks are cool! It's just baffling for a series as big as Harry Potter to never make an effort to show the good of human life.
We get human emotions. Harry feels lonely at times, he feels seen, he finally has friends. We can relate to THAT.
So Harry Potter does escapism, sure, but it makes the reader feel worse about their own life.
But, it's marketable as hell. The theme parks work because, just for a moment, attendees can pretend that they're one of the special magic people, not just another Muggle.
Sure, we can all relate to not feeling seen, and the joy that can come from feeling like you finally belong, but Harry Potter almost assumes that this only gets to happen for the special people who are born magical.
If you're born a Muggle? Too bad! You don't get to live in the cool world.
Good escapism uses fiction to instill hope for reality. But Harry Potter is too enamored with it's own world to care about the one outside it.
The only real Muggle connection is the Dursleys, who at designed to be the most unpleasant sort of Muggle life. But we never see GOOD Muggle life.
The problem with Harry Potter is that the series' brand of escapism doesn't instill optimism for the human world, it makes you wish you could be a part of a different one.
The series never uses the wizarding world to show the good of the human world. Being a wizard is just objectively better.

"No no no Jesus, you don't understand. Poor people LIKE crazy-ass drone shows. I know you haven't been on Earth for a while, but we got grocery stores, so no need for the church to feed the poor anymore!"
"B-but God. I was simply trolling the libs!"
I can understand why billionaires are willing to sell their souls to make more money. But most conservatives are selling their souls for... Nothing?
"stop using anti transgender language" instead of "thank you", say "here is $20" instead of "hey can you grab the door", say "do you want me to send you money" instead of "have a good day at work", say "here is $20" instead of "how was your day", say "have $20" instead of "good morning", say "let me give you money"
you should treat a trans person today
Rich people. The goal is not a society that simply benefits the rich, it's one where poor people don't exist.
So, let's congratulate everyone who's so possessed with "fairness is not transphobic." In the name of protecting women, you have enabled unfair policy and harassment against trans AND cis women. Don't call yourself an ally. Don't call yourself a feminist. Your a fascist in disguise. Be WOKE.
Not to mention women with high testosterone levels who have been impacted by these policy changes as well.
Caster Semenya was asked to reduce her testosterone to remain eligible. Following this, six African female runners were disqualified due to high testosterone as well.
Now, the NCAA, NAIA, and IOC have banned trans athletes over fairness concerns. No trans women have won metals. There has been no trans athletic supremacy.
A certain British author may harass Imane Khelif over her victory, all while ignoring she's a cis woman.
When she met eligibility to join the women's team, she was a more even match. But even then, she never came close to breaking any records. She never came close to her own. Certainly, if she ACTUALLY had an advantage, no women's record would be able to compete with her.
The reason we hear Lia Thomas' name so often is because there's no other examples of trans women winning. Let's not forget that she was a top ranking swimmer pre-transition, and had a swim a year on the male team while taking HRT. Her times dropped drastically. Her placements dropped drastically.
If you're not willing to do the research and learn that HRT eliminates "biological advantage," you aren't concerned about fairness, you just hate trans people.

Watching the list of states trans people can't visit grow is some disturbing, dystopian shit. And for the Idaho legislature to literally say "trans people are a myth," it's pretty plain what the end goal is. We can't reckon with evil using words.
Friendly reminder that JK Rowling isn't JUST transphobic. She's also extremely anti-Semitic.
Like, have we all forgotten about how she described the goblins? She was ALWAYS problematic.
I don't know if I've ever seen an online fandom that actually enjoys the thing they're allegedly fans of.
File navigation has become a real pain point every semester. I just don't see how Chromebooks are helping, and they're such a big investment.
