Imagine if we had politicians whose first instinct was to copy Mamdani, rather than aping the goms wrapped in tricolours.

This is a genuinely mindblowing combination. 1) Deliberately false information, 2) promoted in schools, 3) using public money, 4) in the service of private profits, 5) at the cost of our collapsing ecosystem.

This is everything wrong in modern Ireland in one story.
Public sector duty has to apply to this surely!

An ADSBx map showing Journey’s N62FF going from Mesa AZ to Shannon airport in Ireland.

An ADSBx map showing Journey’s N62FF going from Mesa AZ to Shannon airport in Ireland.

HEADS-UP, IRELAND: A likely ICE flight has just landed at Shannon again, likely to refuel before delivering shackled migrants to god-knows-where.

This is the same plane that sent migrants to Uganda — a country they had never been to before — on April 1.

Things to note about Sitka spruce forests that Micheál who owns multiple commercial Sitka plantations neglects to tell us:

Sitka plantations in Ireland and the UK tend to be monoculture uniform age plantations because this maximises profitability and makes the wood much much cheaper to harvest. /1

There's an instinct to blame the left that these agri protests are often right wing or led by people who are right wing cause "the left" didn't engage but that ignores that many of these people have their own conservative to right wing ideologies.

Community voices need to be better respected and reflected in Councils. Disabled people and their representative organisations have the right to participate, the right to understand why/how a decision was made, and the right to be protected from retaliation when acting as human rights defenders!

Sligo Disabled Persons' Organisation brings complaint about Sligo County Council to the Ombudsman Press Release from Sligo DPO

Thanks to Disability Participation News Hub for picking up our press release. Its totally ridiculous we have to go through a process as far as the Ombudsman because we couldn't get simple answer to why a decision was made against us from. #spéirghorm

Is the now the time for a party that doesn't want us to have housing or anything good in the world to replace its leader with another person who doesn't want us to have housing or anything good in the world?
I dunno , with what? A plague of locusts? A punch me in the face machine?

Yeah and that becomes a vicious circle where people doing everything for no value becomes the standard, and willing people think they need to give 110% all the time rather than small bit, whilst those doing too much burn out. My motto for the last while has been "We need more of us, doing less."

Oh yeah same, being a leftie disabled activist and realising the people closest to you politically are the hardest to move on is a weird space to find yerself in.

5 days ago 0 0 1 0

Your not alone in that experience, Its so hegemonic, ingrained and unconsidered but lefties are harder to change their minds because the self image is based in having the best take, its harder for them to accept that in many ways are basically right wing on the issue of disability.

Nice read, didnt feel long at all! I really resonate with the line "But take your place at the back of the queue and get involved in the democratic process. Print the fliers, make the tea, volunteer, encourage your friends, steward the protests. "

The left/workers movement cant account for a blindspot they dont see. Historically disabled people were segregated from the working classes, and the left like everyone else bought into eugenics and charity view, hence the left, ironically, is built on the same bodily ideals as the capitalist class.

The meta, Meta and meaning of the Irish fuel protests - a longish read about what more than 20 years of studying and covering the far right has taught me about these political moments.

Fighting for anything with ff/fg in power is massive energy drain because they either dont care about doin anything that doesnt line their own pockets or are ideological opposed to decent things. Theres no left party whose strategy or policies I disagree with that are as much work to move as ffg.

Government are going to try ram through the arbitration amendment act which would open the door for Secretive international courts that would allow corporations to sue the Irish state if they pass laws that could effect their profits.

The real cost of cheap goods and fast delivery. They are accused of preventing staff from assisting or performing cpr and requiring workers to continue on while a man lay on the floor. imagine the moral trauma to all involved.

The 'movement' supposedly tryin to ensure that hauliers have affordable access to fuel, is reportedly doing targetted harrassment of the families of drivers trying to deliver fuel.
None of this makes sense as protest. It makes entire sense as an extremist attack on our infrastructure.
