‘But what we have isn’t peace. What we have is a continuing genocide, albeit one that has shifted gears and has—for now—moved into the slow lane. … To quote a searing poem published last week by Fady Joudah: “After the genocide, the genocide.”’

RIP Claus Offe 😔 He wrote a lot but this is by far one of the best texts written about trade unions, their structural position and limitations. www.hwiesenthal.de/publik/hw/2l...
The Hertie School mourns the passing of Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Claus Offe, Professor Emeritus of Political Sociology, an extraordinary scholar, teacher and colleague.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all who had the privilege to know him.

Such an incredible vibe at the Brisbane/Meanjin protest for Palestine. Overwhelmingly young, incredibly diverse. The crowd was the face of modern Australia. Politicians take note.
It is massive. Thanks to Peter Deppeler on Twitter for the footage. #GazaGenocide #MarchForHumanity

The anti-genocide movement has been driven by below: activists rather than bureaucrats, people rather than NGOs, students rather than professors, etc. Almost without exception, the top echelons of society have tried to stop the protests, not the genocide.
‘unilateral sanctions were associated with an annual toll of 564 258 deaths, similar to the global mortality burden associated with armed conflict’
