I've been tuned into @anyaustin.bsky.social 's Skyrim stream all day... name a more iconic duo
I may or may not read the Twitch chat, and if I do, it would be sporadic-- like when "sleeping" or maybe at the end of each week. So that'd be at most once per hour. If you're in the chat, please help explain to people what's going on if they have questions. :)
This will end up as a video on the channel in about a month, but the point (at least for me) isn't just to make myself suffer. Like with all my videos, I'm curious about hyper-focusing on extremely mundane slices of video games, and this is a simple way of doing that to an extreme.
For the duration of the challenge, I've blacked out all the windows in my house, covered all the clocks, and ideally won't have any connection with any sense of time outside of the game. I'm also pumping Skyrim sounds and music into my bathroom to ensure I remain at least semi-engaged while away.
I have a small notebook with which I can slide notes under a door to call for cooked food to my partner, and we have a way of delivering that food without breaking the confinement. All food (except water) will be served in roughly 1/20th sized portions to fit with Skyrim's 1/20th time scale.
Here's a picture of some of that food, though most of it has been turned into a Skyrim-legal stew now.
Similar to my Cyberpunk video on the same subject, throughout the "challenge" I'll only be eating real food that's available to me in the game, and only WHEN it's available to me in the game. Same applies to drinking water or using the bathroom.
Living Three Weeks As A Farmer Inside Skyrim
Each day/night cycle in Skyrim is 72 minutes long, and I'm going to "live" for three weeks inside the game, performing the role of a farming NPC. This could take anywhere from 18 to 25 hours, depending on how many hours we fake-sleep every night.
In around 30 minutes, I'm going to begin streaming roughly 18-24 straight hours of Skyrim on Twitch. This post is going to serve as an explanation of what I'm doing, what the rules are, and what the purpose is. Link to my Twitch: www.twitch.tv/any_austin
