It’s so good I always say it at least once when talking to anyone about IE4A for the first time (whether it’s a reporter or nbhd association etc)

And! Let’s do it in conjunction with social housing, elevator reform, accessibility requirements, single stair, and social housing to make sure that the Inner Eastside is truly for ALL!

As Inner Eastside for All moves forward we have to fight hard to make sure we don’t allow neighborhood carve outs, apartments restricted only to corridors, or building heights that make real density impossible. Upzoning works but you have to go big!

On Wednesday next week at 5pm, we’re rallying to support a resolution to accelerate the planning process for the Inner Eastside Area Planning Project, potentially delivering an Inner Eastside upzoning a year or more sooner than the current timeline for the project. But how did we get here? 🧵

Portland *can* build affordable, beautiful housing that puts you in proximity to your friends, grocery stores, schools,work, etc.

But that there’s a lot there that *is* required, especially with the potential of this project to make a lot of rich people very mad and lawsuit happy. Part of the idea of this resolution is to parse out which is which and get that on the record

Yep, that’s a fair summary. There’s a balance here between getting it done as quickly as possible and having something that’s not going to be appealed and overturned at LUBA. I definitely think there are things that BPS does that aren’t *required* in OR planning law…

On April 15, Portland City Council will consider a resolution focused on keeping the Inner Eastside Area Planning project moving forward. This is the resolution passed out of committee on March 12th (unanimously!) with huge support from our membership and coalition in the form of written testimony.

It’s fantastic!! We actually had a little book club to read golden gates a couple years ago haha but I think it could do with a revival :)

Truly tho the ur example of how we shouldn’t be doing things. Thank you SF (in all seriousness it makes me very sad that housing policy has created such incredible suffering and dysfunction)
