I contributed to these long discussions. Impressive how well Iz and Hannah synthesized it all.

Woah, thanks Kate!!
This was a great episode! And very helpful for people trying to get perspective on what matters
I haven’t gone too deep into the culture. How do you get a setting like Be There?
I have this camera too. I love it!
Curious about that Wendy Eisenberg album! Enjoyed this write-up. I like the idea of someone so experimental leaving that mark on a proper folk record
Awesome, great to learn. Thank you! Looks like a good night
Who is it playing on the left?
Really enjoyed this one and thinking about their influence. It would be good to go back and try to notice how tightly it’s constructed.
It’s good that most studios have tweezers
End of July I'll be unavailable
Amazing resource in Maine but I haven’t gone yet. Film archives and screenings of some special stuff. Seriously regret missing The Shop on Main Street two weeks after a trip to Prague. How unlikely to have that film living in my town.
This is so philosophically welcome to Will Oldham’s mind
So happy you checked it out!

Lovely new song from Maggie Hopp (Raw Honey) with some help from Fred Thomas. I briefly played guitar for this band!
Read a bit about it at Start-Track too:

They have a song called The Golden Tiger. That's his pub!
I love Bohumil Hrabal and "I know where your passport is! / It’s laughing on the streets of Edinburgh!" indeed tracks. We visited his childhood town this spring. That immediately endears me to this band.
This is what art writing is for. When I take the time with this album, I will perceive more.
Great questions! This is a resource. Love seeing the influence of Jerry David DeCicca. He produced Ralph White’s Worried Songs records and the sound struck me immediately. Callahan is quoted in the notes saying, “This record is someone touching you all over!” The whole body close to the mic.
I haven’t heard this one yet, but @goldfishbloom.bsky.social’s Breaking and Mending is beautiful and effortlessly patient. Her relationship to singing reminds me of when I’ve woken from a nap and it feels nourishing to simply be somewhere in space.
That one’s also at @orindal.bsky.social
“Lawmakers should welcome new arrivals in a state that desperately needs to expand its labor force and overall population.”
So sick that The Modern Folk and John Swanke are on @subvert.fm. I just discovered their duets poking around today (as a member). It made me excited for all these communities to meet. Check out Swanke's Rain Country, btw! Lovely.
Maybe I should. It’s not so far away. I saw them here in Portland a few years ago and it seemed like I could do that every summer night. Just raising my hand as curious…
🙋🏻♂️
Sounds beautiful and fortifying
🙌
🙌 Saw him play these songs at Washington Baths, gorgeous
This labels bats 💯
