It makes me so nervous to search out new artists for commissions because I have no idea if the artist will even deliver after I've spent upwards of $100+ for just the promise of something.

That Jesse Cox story with the commission hits so hard. In the year since I've started commissioning art, I've had 4 artists ghost me, some for *years*. One got a callout post from multiple sources and then said their "dms were nuked so I don't know what I'm working on."
