Justin Webb finds it extraordinary that a politician can be appointed after losing jobs more than once.
Can I ask where he's been in the past 15 years?

Just heard the Pat McFadden interview on #bbcbreakfast. No interruptions. Felt refreshing compared to what we're subjected to on #r4today

Chris Mason sounds like someone bored with an over long fairground ride who can't remember it was his choice to get on the thing. #r4today

Matt Vickers is intentionally lying about the Tory government so I'm inclined to think he's also intentionally lying about whether Keir Starmer has intentionally lied. #newsnight

What a win for Barnet to have lost that Reform guy. #c4news

As a London driver I find it ridiculous when I drive out to Essex with their 60mph limits on tiny winding roads. Of course idiot Reform voters want to keep them. #c4news

Robinson: "I'm not trying to interrupt I'm just trying to clarify."

And then he talks over Ed Miliband's answer again.

Thanks #bbcpm for cheering me up with this item on disappointed Arsenal fans. They don't know they're born. Try being a Spurs fan in an otherwise West Ham household.

I wouldn't want you to. I'm just pointing out the logical conclusion of their stupidity.

The same applies to his French partner.

Reform's policy is to retrospectively remove the right to remain. Farage's German wife had the right to remain because we were in the EU at the time. It would seem only right that she lose her right to remain.

It's an easy enough trip from Frinton to mainland Europe. Ferry from Harwich to the Hoek van Holland. We could have a whip round. #r4today

I'm beginning to think this is the most likely explanation for why Mandelson was appointed. A Trump trap - give us Mandelson, you get a good trade deal. Then we release the Epstein files to weaken your government. Labour fell for it hook, line and sinker. #r4today

What I mean is that #r4today seems only to have positive stories about Reform UK and nothing about their many and varied instances of corruption, prejudice and hypocrisy.

Perhaps we should be looking at the vetting process for top civil service jobs when Pippa Crerar's husband moves from a Telegraph journalist post to a communications role in the FCDO. #r4today

Surely Farage's partner and ex wife would have to go back to their safe European countries under Reform's migration policy. #r4today

Andy Zaltzman at Soho Walthamstow was brilliant on the Mandelson appt last night. I'm paraphrasing:
They shouldn't have appointed him because:
His nickname is the Prince of Darkness.
He's a twice disgraced former minister.
He was a friend of a convicted sex offender
He's Peter Mandelson!

The BBC continues to make the mistake of believing anything that Trump says. #r4today

Another Reform UK story for #r4today to ignore. Makes a change from the racism and financial corruption.

This "summing up" by Justin Webb and Chris Mason can't be described as anything other than an attempt to bring down the Labour government. Not the role of our public broadcaster. #r4today

Full marks to #r4today for finding this American Catholic guy to make us think we're back in the 17th century.

Husband's theory: Trump insisted on Mandelson in order to get a trade deal. #r4today

Badenoch raises the war herself and then complains about being asked about it. There can't have been many other people so incompetent at the role of Leader of the Opposition can there? #r4today

Yes, we could do with some measured pronouncements from opposition parties. Certainly won't get them from Badenoch in a moment. #r4today

I don't buy the "we had to have someone for Trump to get on with" argument. Trump's regime controls what's released from the Epstein files, so it was a great opportunity for them to weaken what they regard as a dangerous socialist government. Labour = absolute mugs amongst other things. #r4today

I don't know what Labour was thinking of with the Mandelson appt. We'd just kicked out the Tories for their sleaze and corruption and they reach out to their best approximation of the same for a top job. #r4today
