I requested novavax at the local health department. 11 yo turns 12 in a couple weeks so he and the 13 yo are getting it too. Anecdotally, my spouse and I have had fewer side effects with the novavax. We're hermits though so can't attest to the effectiveness in the real world.

Our springs have been a bit chaotic the past few years. Last year we didn't have frost after late March, we've gone as far as mid May. I think we're clear after tonight which is good bc our tomatoes and okras are getting a bit leggy in the greenhouse. Cute little thief you got there!
Good luck to you too!
Thanks! Fingers crossed ๐ค
Mid-90s (F) last week, temps hovering around freezing tonight. Gotta protect my cukes! ๐ฑ
We made 6. 3 for this week, 3 for the freezer.
I don't think I've had rice-a-roni in 30 years, that definitely brings back memories

We've got tomatoes, okra, melons, and squashes ready to go in but it's supposed to drop down to 40 tonight and flirt with frost tomorrow night. After multiple days in the mod-90s last week. I'll need to tarp the cukes and sweet peppers that are already in and hope for the best ๐ค
Only thing we buy is the lye, and essential oils if we're adding scents, but normally I just leave them out and keep it plain. We're basically the opposite of Bath & Body Works ๐
We just give them to the chickens, they absolutely love it. Seasoning it sounds like a good idea though, maybe I'll keep a little for myself this time.
Yup that's basically it, we just use the crock pot so we don't have to stand over the stove.
There's a bunch of sources for how to make soap but this is the one I've found the most helpful, ymmv: www.frugalandthriving.com.au/homemade-lar...
Oops it was supposed to be soap. Fat thumbs...
Yeah it's great just set it and forget it, don't have to worry about things scorching like you would on the stove!
This is hog fat, we raised mangalitsa, large black, and crosses of the two. As long as you cut off the meat then the fat renders just fine with no smell.
We use it primarily for cooking we also do sodas and candles. I've made balms before too but prefer to use plant-based days for that.
Just get a couple of hogs ๐
Ooh that sounds good
Overhead view of a kitchen countertop. In the front are 2 8 quart glass bowls, the one on the right is full of eggs, left is full of flour. Behind the bowls is a slow cooker, open, full of cubed hog fat beginning to render into lard. To the left of that, 2 quart jars full of goat milk, a half gallon Pyrex measuring cup full of ice water, and a utensil crock.

Great weather for kale!
Don't buy the seedlings, I can send you plenty of seeds ๐
Yes please
Light purple iris surrounded by more that haven't opened yet amongst a sea of daffodil leaves. There's a blurry gray truck and blurry gray minivan in the background.
We brought irises with us when we moved out of our old house 13 years ago, dividing and replanting (and gifting) them throughout the years ๐ฑ
Heck yeah, congrats!
And the carpet around the hot tub ๐ฌ
We thought about becoming WOOF hosts a while back, but then the pandemic happened and really pushed us further into hermit mode
We've tried a bunch of varieties but these have been the best for us. We also have Early Fortune on another trellis for our slicing cukes, but we pickle them all.
Just my last name, my kids go through TONS of pickles ๐
These are Snow's Fancy Pickling in the front and A&C Pickling cucumbers in the back, we've had good success with both through the years.
Pierce's Pickles off to a good start ๐ฑ๐ฅ
We're constantly dividing and redistributing (and sharing with whoever will take them) ours as well! The bees love it, as do we!
Thank you! We're in 7b, just recently got "upgraded" a few years ago from 7a.
