The Mets' losing streak is now 11.
Since 2020, there have been 11 other teams who have lost at least 11 games in a row at some point.
None of them made the playoffs.
Of that group, last year's A's (76-86) had the best record.

Last weekend, I sat down with Dave Roberts to discuss his growth as a manager and how he has learned to handle stress, shake criticism & "consciously enjoy moments."
"Because the question is, if you can’t enjoy moments, then what am I doing this for?"

Dave Roberts said Shohei Ohtani still has some soreness from getting hit behind the shoulder, so the Dodgers wanted him to just focus on pitching tonight.
This ball-strike system was not automated
I applaud when umps who clearly aren’t watching the challenging player in the immediate aftermath of a call recognize they didn’t see them and still grant the challenge (as Brian O’Nora does here) instead of ruling it was too late.
At this moment, Andy Pages leads MLB in hits and batting average and leads the National League in slugging and OPS.
Quite the bounceback from his 4-for-51 October.
Chase DeLauter has done it again. That's his 5th HR, tied for the MLB lead.
“We're not even scratching the surface of what this kid's capable of."
Talked to Steven Kwan, Austin Hedges, Rhys Hoskins and more about the Guardians rookie making everyone a believer:

Gavin Williams has 10 strikeouts through seven scoreless innings, and these are numbers I never expected to see all at once, even if only a week into the season.
Shohei Ohtani, who’s 3-for-15 with six walks and no extra-base hits to start the year, is taking BP on the field today, something you rarely see him do.
Vogt on DeLauter: “Chase was obviously sore, but negative on the X-rays. So, foot contusion. Tomorrow was a planned off day for Chase anyway, so this will give him two days off.”
This was all just one start
Cleveland outfielders are going to need a lot of ice tonight.
Angel Martinez just took a 96.4 mph fastball from Ohtani directly off the left knee, but is somehow staying in the game (and looked OK running the bases).
DeLauter update: X-rays were negative. He left the game with a left foot contusion.
Rookie sensation Chase DeLauter fouled a Shohei Ohtani fastball off his back foot. He tried to stay in but couldn't run out a grounder and then hobbled straight down to the tunnel. He's now out of the game.

Helluva night for some ball
Lol. HP umpire Cory Blaser, who rung Geraldo Perdomo up with the low strike-3 call in the WBC, almost helped Perdomo out on a ball that caught the top of the zone.
Now there's ABS though.
Will Smith challenges, and Emmet Sheehan strikes out the side in the first.
On ring night, it’s starti…err, first pitcher Clayton Kershaw
The Dodgers are again the favorites, with a roster that Dave Roberts believes is his best ever.
But they aren't feeling added pressure as they begin their quest for the first three-peat in a quarter-century.
"We get to embrace it. That’s what makes it fun."

I’m still expecting to start warming in the bullpen
Happy Opening Day, yall.
Grateful to call this my job, thankful for everyone who follows and reads. Let’s watch some ball.

For those hoping for a positive update on Roki Sasaki's final tune-up, maybe go take a nice long walk or pet your dog or something.
He just walked in two runs and is departing at 30 pitches before recording an out. He could re-enter, but his spring ERA is sitting at 18.90.
The order of the Dodgers’ rotation to begin the year, per Dave Roberts:
Th: Yoshinobu Yamamoto
F: Emmet Sheehan
Sat: Tyler Glasnow
M: Roki Sasaki
Tu: Shohei Ohtani
The U.S. finished seventh in the tournament in slugging, behind Australia.
Team USA has now been held scoreless in 16 of its last 17 innings.
The last 5 starters to face the U.S. in the WBC — Manny Barreda (MEX), Michael Lorenzen (ITA), Michael Soroka (CAN), Luis Severino (DOM) & E-Rod (VEN) — combined for a 1.59 ERA against them.
Kind of unbelievable.
Helluva promotion for ABS
Worth remembering tonight as Italy holds off Puerto Rico and continues its extraordinary undefeated run:
Only two (non-US) teams from the Americas will qualify for the 2028 Olympics in L.A., and it's based on the results in the WBC. Huge opportunity tonight for Venezuela.
