When I am quick to blame planners and engineers when people die on our streets, this is why.

"Their retreat from renewables isn’t a setback for energy evolution, it’s the opposite; it’s foreshadowing that the future of energy is being built around them, not by them.

The transformation of energy does not need oil companies to lead; it needs them to phase down while new industries phase up."

It’s a little bit of cognitive dissonance and sunk costs.

This is huge. Having bike parking be front and center has 2 benefits:

1. Visible so it’s less likely someone steals it

2. Daily reminders of having a different option than driving.

What’s the resulting data on consumer debt?

If this is from cash…good, but I have a suspicion a lot of this is just increasing personal debt

What a joke…

Not all drivers around a school are parents…

And I am talking about building infrastructure that is safe for other users, not “banning” drivers.

You might have it better, but here in our local suburbs, we have schools with limited sidewalks and absolutely no safe biking infrastructure.

For me you can’t stop it. It’s human nature.

We need to build more car free spaces.

You are correct that it is the best example of urbanism we have. Likely decades ahead of other areas. That’s why I was disappointed.

There’s also a lack of diversity. Not speaking of anything demographically, just that everyone on campus is related to the campus. Huge income segregation exists.

It’s a mix of things:

1. Yes, transit. But not just state funding into expansion but just more coordination between GT transit and MARTA

2. Support not just student housing near campus, but staff and faculty housing as well.

3. Incentives for transit/bikes/living close to campus

Too bad their comprehensive campus plan has no modal shift from cars to other forms of transportation.

In Georgia, the state legislature is trying to completely ban camera enforcement of speeding.

Right now, they are only allowed in school zones.

We’d rather prioritize unsafe driving than the safety of our kids.
