There is an API endpoint for getting all follows of a user, right? Wouldn’t it be possible to loop over the posts which are selected by your feed and remove all posts by the follows? IMO that’s exactly what the third party app you mentioned earlier does.
Would be even better, if it wouldn’t include accounts I already follow.
