I passed my PhD viva! 🙌✨
Thank you to the examiners @martynquigley.bsky.social and @cycology.bsky.social for a thoughtful discussion! Huge thank you to my supervisor @olijrobinson.bsky.social and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Lab for the amazing years - luckily I'm not going anywhere just yet

Very nice. We’re about to collect hours and are currently in the stimulus selection phase
@peterakirk.bsky.social is who you need. What’s the movie btw?
Another recent paper in CPsy: Computational Modelling Reveals Slower Safety Learning and Threat Extinction are Associated With Higher Anxiety Severity in Remote Fear Conditioning from Tim Kerr, @olijrobinson.bsky.social and @thaliaeley.bsky.social and team...
congrats! Great news!
Yep, definitely need four of those
Whereas I’d quite like to know what a ‘Jingling Johnnie’ is
Out today in Molecular Psychiatry our paper on multiverse computational factor modeling (i.e. a lotta lotta factor analyses). Thread below for the full rundown. Last PhD paper from @celinef.bsky.social YOU'RE FREE!! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
This is complete madness. Music, for instance - the physics, the maths, the notation, the neuroscience of perceptual systems etc. are all essentially figured out. Literally none of that is relevant to why someone plays your song at their wedding.
Post doc job alert 📢! Announcing a v exciting job on a Wellcome-funded project in my group at UCL, looking at auditory hallucinations... Advert here 👀: rb.gy/230w8l - deadline is end of Oct. Please apply! 1/5
That would be extremely altrusitic. Forego your entire salary and research costs for the next generations jobs 😂
Unless a postdoc salary is insanely low in some parts of Europe I guess?
Point taken, but something is off with the maths here. I guess it’s ignoring fellow salary, research costs and overheads? in uk you t be getting more than 1 (plus some RAs) for this top line in 2014 and that’s not really changed.

Check out our new pre-print in which we argue something that might be obvious but doesn't seem to be obvious to everyone: Large Language Models (such as ChatGPT) do not simulate human psychology.

not sure they've even got the risk aversion right. Likely both sectors, but consulting for absolute certain, are going to undergo AI-driven contraction.
Most definitely not just you 😉.
Doesn’t matter for atheortical network analyses…after all ‘rest’ is very variable.
But for the sorts of things in most ‘BWAS’ - i.e. data driven network analyses - you can just append all those sequences together to create a long one. At a glance this paper shows that for theory driven task analyses you can get away with 20-30 mins even with old school tasks
