Answer received and actually what I suspected when I posted this, the picked 4 and one person had to decline so they just didn’t backfill/invite another. Really surprised they didn’t anticipate this foreseeable issue and have contingencies planned to ensure all spots are used. Sad.

I know of at least one regional cosplayer that was declined so no my guess is not that.

For context to those not familiar with the old contest/program, when less than a certain amount of participants entered, the awards were reduced in number the day of the contest. To my knowledge minimum participant number was not listed/set, wondering if this is similar?

So excited to see some familiar talented friends selected and I can’t wait to see their new creations! 💜 But, I’m curious, there are only 3 cosplayers featured and the application guidelines specified 4 invites. Is the program changing or were there not enough entrants? #fabtcg

That’s how I feel too. I’ve had a few trolls imply I deserve to be shunned going forward for voicing my disappointment in the process/situation. But I’ve always believed in (respectfully) voicing my concerns when I feel strongly (which isn’t often!) and if that is the result I will live with that.

You’re spot on thank you, lack of transparency and consistency in guidelines/selection and timing is the concern. It’s why I was a fan of the contest as both a participant and judge. Everybody had an opportunity to be seen and considered by a panel with expertise. It just needed some adjustment.
