How to verify your Bluesky account - Bluesky Here's how to verify your Bluesky account by setting your website as your username.

as of this week, when you verify your account by updating your username from a default like emily.bsky.social to your website @emilyliu.me, your former bsky.social username is reserved for you automatically (and prevents impersonators from claiming it). you can revert back to it at anytime

I have to ask because a social platform keeps popping up everyday and I cannot wonder if "Alternative" is a new platform. 😆

What's an alternative ID? Are you referring to "a different one" in the literal sense?

@sharunkumar.com, what's that app you built to automatically clean up downloads folder?

I think it's a known behavior and dev(s) are on it.

👋 you can also use a non-DNS option — serve some JSON at a well-known endpoint (similar to webfinger)

```
GET https:// <users-handle> /xrpc/com .atproto.identity.resolveHandle {"did":"<users-did>"}
```
(remove spacing)

The beginning of the end of the password For some time we and others in the industry have been working on a simpler and safer alternative to passwords. While passwords will be with us for some time to come, they are often frustrating to remember and put you at risk if they end up in the wrong hands.Last year — alongside FIDO Alliance, Apple and Microsoft — we announced we would begin work to support passkeys on our platform as an easier and more secure alternative to passwords. And today, ahead of World Password Day, we’ve begun rolling out support for passkeys across Google Accounts on all major platforms. They’ll be an additional option that people can use to sign in, alongside passwords, 2-Step Verification (2SV), etc.So maybe, by next year’s World Password Day, you won’t even need to use your password, much less remember it!

Huge news! Starting today, you can set up a passkey for your Google account. At this stage of the industry-wide transition, setting up a passkey doesn’t invalidate your password, so it’s 100% safe to set up. blog.google/technology/safety-securi...

The APIs over public data that Bluesky gives you is pretty incredible, actually.

I can't wait to see what people build.

Bluesky has the good UX that the fediverse lacks. Fast app, good notifications, easy signup, custom domains without a server, real reposts, search! Given the fediverse had the critical mass and better timing, this will be a great test of how much UX matters.

My guess is UX is all that matters.

The AT Protocol Developer Ecosystem The AT Protocol's developer ecosystem is growing rapidly. Today we’re shipping app passwords, a short-term solution for authentication that will let users experiment with new clients without having to fully trust them.

With the release of app passwords today, we’re excited to share an overview of the rapidly growing atproto developer ecosystem!

Happy to share that I'll be joining 1Password this summer as a Developer Intern working on the Developer Ecosystems projects. I have always been a believer in open source, and it warms my heart that the journey continues.

This is a Fun Feature (bug)

The language filtering is currently client side. If it gets a page (30) posts that are in a different language, it opts to give you the other language instead of nothing. So if you get all Japanese it means Japan is popping off right now
