interesting that when a movie with female protagonists does poorly the response is to cancel upcoming projects with female protagonists and when a movie with female protagonists is a huge hit the response is to cancel upcoming projects with female protagonists
Relatable. My parents would wait til I had my hand on the door to leave before mentioning that they had expected me to vacuum the house or mow the lawn or something (which was not communicated at any time prior to my being about to leave).
This was brilliant and I hate being alive in the time where I can understand what the words mean.
RIP to one of the all time greats of this game. When I was a lot earlier in my fascination with Magic, I remember reading online and in Sideboard about his insane run of Pro Tour and GP wins and top 8s. Definitely an aspirational figure in the game and by all accounts a wonderful person.
I fear the former may not be possible without the latter, no matter how much I dislike it.
I feel this in my bones. I don't want to know my neighbors, but I do want them to have all their other needs met by a cooperative system. Tragically, I think that for people like me, the most immediate critical work is maybe to address what pushes us towards that feeling.

Anyone who
1) likes Gavin Newsom
2) said it was “too early to worry” about who’s running
3) believes, like Gavin suggests, that the Democrats lost the election for being “too woke”
Is: wrong
I recommend this YouTube if you want to learn more about the thought processes of these parents, the blatant “missing reasons” they aren’t saying, and other related topics

It is a huge problem/failure that as a society, we're more invested in guaranteeing people's right to opt into death than we are in securing the material needs they require to live without duress. The reason for it is obvious: it costs capital basically nothing to allow people to die. (3/3)
is used as a cudgel to encourage people to die to save "needless" expense to their families or to avoid pain they lack the resources or medical care to spare themselves. (2/3)
I support the right to die, but I concede there is nuance to this. Where I feel people on the "pro" side of the issue are more likely to think of bizarre outliers (where families forced individuals to endure suffering they no longer wanted) the unfortunate reality in many places is that it (1/3)

Two screenshot of Divine being interviewed for TV. Divine is a big drag queen in a red dress wearing elaborate makeup. Interviewer: "Can you give us some of your political beliefs?" Divine: "Kill everyone now."

The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"
Not only have I enjoyed nearly all of Matthew Lillard's performances that I've seen, he doesn't give major creep vibes unlike certain directors who are spending this month randomly lashing out at actors.
And that's the optimistic outlook...
So his term is up in 2028. Seems like plenty of time to mount a primary challenge, just sayin.
A four frame comic about Captain Torture. The first frame shows the sign "BREAKING NEWS" and the drawing of a man, with the words "CAPTAIN TORTURES PASSES AWAY" near him. The second frame shows a journalist holding a mic, as she says "A controversial and divisive figure, Captain torture will be remembered for his key role in history." The News title is "Mourning day for Captain-". The third frame shows three posts on social media. The first one is by a man called Paul James @Paulitician. He writes: "I didn't always agree with Captain Torture but he sure was a man who believed in something." The second post by James Paul @Avegetable reads: "I pay my respects to Captain Torture and his family. His heart was in the right place- with our country." The third post is by SonicVomit @SonicBleh , and reads "HE TORTURED PEOPLE". The fourth frame shows an interview on TV. An angry man on the right is saying: "Let me tell you something, Jen. I think it's SICK to celebrate Captain Torture's death. These people should be LOCKED UP, and also tortured-". The news below says: "Every president on earth pays homage-".

Ok so I definitely think I walked past you at the Frankenstein showing yesterday evening. Steph and I were on our way out during the credits, did a brief double take but thought I misjudged. You may have heard me obnoxiously coughing and trying not to die after swallowing a Skittle incorrectly.
Could be the CoD...could also be that one of our two mainstream political parties straight up endorses Nazis, doing the Nazi salute, etc. Thankfully the other political party doesn't, except I'm now being lectured that excluding a person with a Nazi tattoo from said party is a "leftist purity test"
I would strongly advise reading this entire thread

If you complain that women don't play at your local shop you should probably take a step back and look at the atmosphere and people?
I don't know why there's game store owners complaining about turnout among women when you don't even have a bathroom not covered in piss.
“People get used to anything. The less you think about your oppression, the more your tolerance for it grows. After a while, people just think oppression is the normal state of things. But to become free, you have to be acutely aware of being a slave.”
