Oil industry leaders are putting economy, environment at risk, says former minister Catherine McKenna Oil and gas production only sector in Canada to increase greenhouse gas emissions in 2024, inventory shows

"(Here in Canada) oil and gas, which is largely foreign-owned, largely U.S.-owned, aren’t doing their part. (Instead)...increasing our emissions and ...demanding that Canadian taxpayers pay the bill for cleaning up the pollution they cause and building pipelines they won’t risk their own money on.”

A 16-year old male on an ebike was sent to ER yesterday. Struck by a taxi driver in a marked crossing. One of many people experiencing road violence that @hfxgov.bsky.social deems acceptable to keep traffic flowing. We want to know about your experiences too - more on Monday April 13 #VisionZero

I mean it just might work. Or are we still advocating for table scraps and corporate profits?

Any journalists in Nova Scotia interested in the realities of the ongoing pandemic? Or are we just fully settled into being perpetually ill, with preventably dysfunctional public healthcare and education?
Lots of scandelous info, but no one is open to reporting it to Nova Scotians.

To deal with oil shortages and high prices other countries are switching to work from home and lowering the cost of public transit to encourage people not to drive.

We are raising transit prices, switching back to work from the office, and investing in more roads.

How will Avi Lewis pay for his big ideas? Taxing billionaires and corporations.

“Banks made $70 billion in profits last year…Grocery baron Galen Weston alone is worth $20 billion,” Avi says.

“The money is there my friends. We need a government with the courage to go and get it for all of us.”

I wouldn’t make vaccines mandatory. Just make easy and available. I would emphasize clean air and air sterilization, along with proper masking. I heard during one of my recent hospitalizations that n95 masks, which are more effective and more comfortable, are kept in stock but not used.

First-past-the-post amplifies culture wars and wedge issues.

Win a narrow band of swing seats and you get total control, so politicians lean into anger to mobilize their base.

Proportional representation moderates governments because they require broad support to stay in power.

I want to live on a 1 acre lot and lead a quasi-rural lifestyle, but also be 5 minutes from major amenities that require a large tax base to support. There should be no traffic. I am very serious.

A clean graphic shows a portrait of Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on the left, wearing a dark suit and red tie. On the right is a quote in black text that reads: “I can tell you that being in a minority coalition government has made me better as a Prime Minister. Not only because of my conviction, but because of my obligation to talk a lot with the rest.” The quote is attributed below to Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain. The background is light grey and minimal.

Coalition governments are not a flaw, they are accountability in action.

When leaders have to work with others, they cannot ignore millions of voters.

Proportional representation makes that the norm instead of the exception.
