Great coverage of the Philomena's Law campaign ahead of the Westminster Hall debate led by @liamconlon.bsky.social this afternoon.
Survivors & Irish community groups joined the family of Philomena Lee to witness Westminster Hall debate on
@liamconlon.bsky.social's proposal for 'Philomena's Law'ā to protect benefits of survivors living in Britain who receive payment from Irish government

Concerns about the toxic effect of smartphones & social media on young people is a big issue for my constituents
Iām working hard to:
ā
Bring local parents, schools and students together
ā
Agree a common smartphone policy in schools
ā
Call for tougher and enforced regulations
Enjoyed visiting Croke Park to discuss supporting the growth of @officialgaa.bsky.social in Britain.
GAA membership in Britain has increased by nearly 30% in just 4 years - with participants from all backgrounds.
Clubs also do vital work in communities from London to Liverpool and beyond.
It was good to talk to @news.rte.ie
with @ivanabacik.bsky.social
in Dublin yesterday about the need for survivors of Mother & Baby Homes to get redress.
I hope to ensure this happens in Britain with Philomenaās Law - and appreciate all the support this is getting: amp.rte.ie/amp/1506923/
Really good to meet with Sinn Fein
Reps inc TD Donnchadh Ć Laoghaire & MP Daire Hughes
Grateful for their support for āPhilomenaās Lawā to ensure thousands of survivors in Britain receive the redress they are entitled to - and discuss support for Irish communities in Britain.
A real honour to meet the Special Advocate for Survivors, Patricia Carey, and a group of survivors from Irelandās Mother & Baby Homes.
Their courage and determination is humbling, and Iām proud to be working with them to support thousands of survivors living in Britain.
Great to be in Dublin and to catch-up with the Irish Labour family including some of their brilliant new intake of TDs!
And Irish Labour Leader @ivanabacik.bsky.social
- who was born in Beckenham & lived in Penge! š¹š®šŖ
It was great to meet with Minister
Norma Foley yesterday on āPhilomenaās Lawā to support thousands of survivors of Irelandās Mother & Baby Homes living in Britain.
Iām really grateful for the support Iāve had from her and the Irish Government so far.
Really tragic news. My thoughts and sympathies are with the boyās family, friends, and everyone affected.
Beckenham Place Park is a park so many of us use, and I know how upsetting this will be to many local residents too.
I welcome the governmentās decision to grant greater licensing powers as we work to boost Londonās economy.
This will give Londoners and visitors more opportunities to enjoy our world-class hospitality sectorādriving growth, jobs and creating a stronger economy for all.
A great day of canvassing in the sun in Kelsey & Eden Park and a really good response from residents with lots of casework collected too!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to talk to us! āļøš¹
Top-quality childcare places boost childrenās life chances and parentās work choices!
Iām delighted that two schools in Beckenham & Penge are amongst the first to get new school-based nurseries - and will support more schools to do so!
A brilliant morning with @serailway.bsky.social to celebrate Clock House and Elmers End stations turning 161 years old!
And it was great to see so many people thanking the wonderful staff who are an important part of our community.
Looking forward to more #Railway200 celebrations soon!
Iām delighted weāve secured Ā£725,000 in funding from Government for solar panels to be installed at Bethlem Hospital.
Solar energy is cleaner and cheaper. Itās perfect for public buildings, especially NHS hospitals š„āļøš±

Beckenham & Penge is where local lad David Bowie launched his music career.
Today itās home to a vibrant community of creatives whose work is increasingly sought by AI companies.
Iām grateful for reassurance Government is working to protect them and ensure fair remuneration.
Last night I held a public briefing on Philomenaās Law in Parliament with
@irishinbritain.bsky.social
It was particularly moving to hear from survivors - a reminder of the need for change. There are 13,000+ living in Britain.
Thanks to everyone who came and to Ailbhe Rea for chairing.
Today @liamconlon.bsky.social & I met with Thames Water and raised concerns of constituents affected by the water outage which left residents without water for several days.
It was good to discuss the lessons learnt and to hold them accountable for the disruption caused to residents.
A pleasure to be out with a brilliant team from Beckenham and Penge CLP today helping our friends in Sittingbourne inc their fantastic MP @kevinmckenna.co.uk! š¹
