This reminded me of an older paper I read, talking about the ecosystem of "edge activity" that springs up around games: communities of many-to-many learning and sharing.
Prioritizing instant, personalized answers runs a real risk of turning communities into ghost towns, and never growing new ones.
I've been thinking about this all week... What a microcosm of capitalist alienation, to want to excise the whole part of the game experience that connects you to friends, strangers, community. Half of the joy of playing is the schoolyard gossip, the lovingly updated wikis, gamefaqs, video essays...
