Nautilus International is urging global leaders to advance climate policies focused on workers, especially after the United States' withdrawal from key maritime environmental discussions in London this week.
The seafarers' trade union delegation of @itfglobalunion.bsky.social this week in Geneva, working hard for continuous improvement of the Maritime Labour Convention. Discussion items included shoreleave, fatigue, work, rest hours, and violence at the workplace including sexual harassment.
The maritime industry is facing a shortage of seafarers. A coordinated global effort is needed to improve recruitment and retention. Without action the future of shipping is at risk.

Nautilus was proud to contribute to a seminar organised by The Nautical Institute: ‘The Maritime Labour Convention 10 Years On’
Charles Boyle, director of legal services, explored the challenges and successes of the MLC, and suggested how improvements can be made to improve the lives of seafarers.
To celebrate the completion of building work at Mariners' Park, we welcomed Katie Higginbottom, Head of Trust at the ITF Seafarers' Trust
As well as containing the Union's new head office, the building also includes 27 high-quality supported living apartments for retired seafarers.
Nautilus has interviewed ITF Inspector Matt Parsonage, who following seven years as an electro-technical officer, now works to promote the rights of seafarers on flag of convenience vessels calling into ports in the Liverpool area.
