Banana Yoshimoto - Kitchen

If you:
* smoke/d cigarettes
* enjoy depictions of processing grief
* remember Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad
* think staring out at the ocean, or brooding on a subway train are essential to the human experience

You may enjoy this book

The cover of "The Burnout Society" by Korean-German Philosopher Byung-Chul Han

Written by a Korean-born German guy so you can smell the cigarette smoke off the book. Neoliberalism is a PLAGUE that ROTS the SOUL and makes us into DOPING addicts. However, you CAN just say NO to stimulus and live your life slow. I don't know what the #real philosophy heads have to say about him. However, I did enjoy the read and now want to read more philosophy. It helped digest some personal feelings that have been floating around my head. The ideas of hyperattention, negativity, doping, self-exploitation, and "making pause" stood out to me.

One aspect that bothered me: Han outlines all these issues in the modern society, then proposes nothing at all? Like he shrugs his shoulders to say "idk man just fix yourself cause society itself is doomed.".

I was sitting there, looking at the double-double with fries & drink that I got for about $11. Then thought about the 2 deluxe and a drink that I gotta pay $14 for at Dick’s….

Unfortunately, yelling β€œCLUTCHBOX!!” while running through the airport does not guarantee you’ll make your flight.

Patlabor: The Early Days (1988)

Very fun concept of "Regular ol' mundane cops(Japan), they just happened to have mechs.". Fantastic dialogue and some great cuts. Watching this while sitting in a warm bath and slamming a Strong Zero, may have positively influenced my opinion.

Claire's Camera

Never-ending rapid oscillation between charming, intriguing, might have something to say, and then awkward, clumsy, and amateurish.

This is for the real film-heads out there

Kamen Rider Drive

The first half is an absolute snooze into a second half with some of the best acting I've seen out of these shows. It's like the ZZ Gundam of modern Rider. I LOVE COPAGANDA, JAPAN

I'd have Happy Chaos reticle permanently affixed to my forehead, if it meant I never had to think about 3S Makoto dashing at me ever again.

In a time of my life where I have multiple hobbies/activities I want to pour my time into, but very little time to give. So I am left with dissatisfaction. There is a range of goals I want to accomplish and I'm progressing towards (almost) none of them!

100M / Hyakuemu

Ping Pong the Animation's more pessimistic but also down-to-earth cousin. The rotoscoping can be really distracting at times. However, that feels irrelevant after the few scenes of legitimately unbelievable animation.

Kamen Rider Gaim

I watched this back in 2013, but I had not watched any Fate Stay/Night at that point.

Gen Urobuchi really saw that an Unlimited Blade Works anime was releasing and said "yeah I can do that too buddy.".
