Did you know that 5 of the 9 Washington State Supreme Court seats are up for grabs this year? Well now you do. With our civil liberties on the line, it's time to bone up on your Supreme Court knowledge.
@mudede.bsky.social says that if you want to experience the disorienting fear that is the central plot of Exit 8, all you have to do is go to the Beacon Hill Light Rail Station.
Can ANYONE tell us why Fred Meyer stopped giving us paper bags with handles?! @meganseling.bsky.social really needs to know.

Seattle’s most celebrated billionaire is getting a campus wake-up call. A UW student is asking whether philanthropy can keep insulating power from accountability.
Want to scream? Me too. We're putting a monthly protest calendar in @thestranger.com, including marches, rallies, and other ways to get involved. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Doesn't that feel better?

It took Mayor Katie Wilson 37 minutes into her State of the City to mention the Seahawks. A new era in local government.
Katie Wilson interrupts her State of the City address to note the fact that a 27-year-old was killed last night by a driver in Capitol Hill.
"We have to do better. We're not on track for our Vision Zero goals, and we have to make it safe for our vulnerable road users to get around the city."
She just announced a new skate park in Rainier Beach. Not clear if it's the one that Adonis Ducksworth campaigned on, but I hope so. www.thestranger.com/news/2025/02...
In the lead up to FIFA, Wilson plans to organize a friendly match between elected officials. I will pay real American dollars to watch that.
"We have to start treating food access as core community infrastructure." In her State of the City address, Wilson reiterated her campaign-trail proposal to open a publicly funded grocery store, which she announced with UFCW 300. www.thestranger.com/news/2025/08...
Wilson did not commit to a decision about the expansion of the CCTV system. She said she's still concerned about digital security, but she's also been "moved" by families who see it as a vital tool to solve gun violence crimes, especially after two students were shot at a bus stop in Rainier Beach.
"We can't get so used to the way things are that we start to feel it's natural for so many people to be left to sleep outside every night," Wilson says. She committed to 1,000 new units of shelter this year, with services matched to people's needs.
Mayor Katie Wilson as she starts her State of the City Address: "I don't think I've ever talked for as long as I'm about to talk, so we'll see how it goes."
