Robinson's interview with Miliband was ludicrous, a real triumph of ego over journalism.

Are there any sudden foreign trips Keir Starmer could go on so he can avoid PMQs tomorrow?

A hundred years ago, the U.S. had a nationwide network of short-line railroads that connected most urban and rural communities. By the 1940s, most of it had been dismantled ... by the barons of the auto and oil industries. 😑

If it's a total ban they're after and kids can't even take phones to school then I'd say that was completely irresponsible.

When I was a kid we had payphones - which we used to call our parents in an emergency. No such network exists any more and nobody seems to acknowledge it.

Colleague just remarked that Starmer is trying to do a Geoffrey Boycott, straight bat, stay put, bore the opposition to death.

I agree, but, like Sir Geoffrey, the Prime Minister is more likely to be run out by his own side than dismissed by the opposition.

very perceptive point from @barrygardiner.bsky.social on Olly Robbins. Ministers want solutions not problems. I think Robbins thought he had found an acceptable way to achieve PM goal of appointing Mandelson while managing risks

In the changing rooms at the swimming pool, where men normally moan about the showers, the temperature of the water or bad lane etiquette while getting dressed, this morning someone instigated a conversation about Keir Starmer.
That's how bad this is.

Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell could not have sold children for sex without rich perverts buying them for sex. I feel this needs to be emphasized much more than it is.

This does show how the wind is blowing in elite opinion though.

In 2017 the framing was "Trump voters took him seriously but not literally, and that's a problem for Democrats."

Now instead it's framed as "Trump voters took him seriously but not literally, and that's a problem for TRUMP."

I now see what happened with the Mandelson vetting. Ollie Robbins treated it as a normal ambassadorial appointment, where he had sole discretion on vetting. In fact, he should have treated it as the equivalent of a Ministerial appointment, where the PM would expect to be told of any issues. 1/

Donington 84 Whistle Test
Donington 84 Whistle Test YouTube video by dazgoulash

Sad about Andy Kershaw.
He did some awful things, for which he was rightly punished, but he also introduced millions in this country to world music and was a breath of fresh air on Whistle Test.
Here he is in a field in 1984 with me and 65,000 other heavy metal fans.

It’s cool how the people who control the US government right now just openly take it as a personal attack when the Pope says something like “God will not reward evil men”

What I Saw Inside the Kennedy Center I spent 10 months working at the institution because I thought I could help protect it. What I observed there is far worse than the public knows.

Heartbreaking description of the pointless, thoughtless damage being done to the Kennedy Center. It was such an important part of life in Washington, and is now being destroyed for no reason

Swimming becomes the first major Olympic sport to lift restrictions on Russian athletes The governing body for international swimming and aquatic sports will allow athletes from Russia to compete without restrictions and with their national flag and anthem.

So, Russians are allowed back to swimming, officially, with their flags, anthem and everything. Shameful .
