Surprise!!! We’re still here!
Aviary is NOT going away. @ngerakines.me has generously allowed @chaosgreml.in to take over running the service.
A bunch of cool changes and improvements will be coming shortly, but feel free to continue to use Aviary without worrying about it going anywhere!!
DMs are open. Haven’t set anything else up beyond that.
Short-term? Unlikely. They have an API but I haven’t used it. If someone has experience with Namecheap and Rust, and was interested in writing that feature, I’d pay them for it.
Attention #Medsky! The invalid handles issue for our new community handle has been fixed, thanks to the 3rd part service @aviary.domains and @ngerakines.me.
I'm going to be releasing this out to people in increments. Please send a DM if you'd like an invite link. Public release date TBD.

Are you a Cloudflare user and new to Bluesky? We wrote a step-by-step guide to manually creating a DNS record through the Cloudflare dashboard so you can update your handle.
Want to save some time though? Just use Aviary to do it!

Yep, full OAuth support. When you log in, either from an invitation link or just by checking out the site, you're authenticating against *your* PDS. Doing so also allows the app to seamlessly change your handle when you accept an invitation to use a domain.
#HelloBluesky Aviary is a tool that lets you share domains with other people on #bluesky. See it in action at dads.lol and atproto.rocks.

Where are my fellow dads at?
It looks great on you!
Yeah, the two different methods have their own pros and cons. The only downside to the HTTP method is that it's a (very) small amount of overhead because a DNS lookup will occur before the HTTP request can be made.
A small quality-of-life update went out tonight (0.3.3 if that's your jam). The notable update is the introduction of the domain prefix field in advanced invitation options. This allows an invitation to include a subdomain when adding handles.
Yeah, a lot of people. There are even some domains open to the public like atproto.rocks and dads.lol.
Have you thought about using aviary.domains to give out invitations to people to claim a handle like "@you.wolfbear.club"?
I’m super stoked about the #IndieWeb possibilities with #AtProto. I’m thinking
- Host my own PDS for blog posts
- Pull in micro-blog type things from here
- My identity is my domain
This is making me excited for the web again!
It looks great!
Saturday is Temporal Displacement Day! Grab your sunglasses and crank up the reactor to 1.21 gigawatts, we're going Back To The Future!

Yeah, we wrote a guide for doing it yourself with Cloudflare. aviary.domains has a handful of integrations for people who have their domain managed with services like DNSimple, Cloudflare, AWS, etc but also don't want to individually manage atproto record updates too.

Yeah, it really is a great feature and something we love at ATProtocol! We wrote a guide for doing-it-yourself with Cloudflare that goes through the step-by-step process. aviary.domains/help/docs/ho...

You should check out aviary.domains. It can make the whole process of sharing domains through invitations, a lot easier.
Looks great!
