Poster text: Call for study participation Promoting Inclusivity in Makerspaces Designing for inclusive makerspaces with the expertise and embodied reflections of members from the trans BIPoC communities. Eligibility Criteria: Identify as part of the trans communities (transgender, non-binary, or gender non-conforming). Identify as part of the BIPOC communities (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color). Have experience in and around makerspaces and/or making. 18 years of age or older. Fluent or conversational in English. Study includes two interviews (one hour each) and a one week diary study where you will be asked to document some of your day-to-day sensory experiences. Compensation: $75 gift card after completion of the study. I’m beyond excited to announce that I will be presenting at @chi.acm.org 2025 on my paper, “Cataloging Augmented, Ambivalent Transgender Futures: Designing Inclusive AR Technologies for Trans Communities Through Speculative, Participatory Zine-Making” 🎊 🎊

Sharing some photos from the first few weeks of my "book tour" - it's been such an amazing experience to connect with people and share the book with you all! As someone who worked at bookstores for much of my 20s, seeing my own book in physical form and on bookstore shelves feels magical.

GOOD NEWS: A federal court temporarily halted President Trump's order to freeze all federal funding, including grants for public health, education, and safety.

Trump's order would have devastating consequences for communities in every corner of the nation. Our leaders must block it for good.

I’m not saying we stop being vigilant, but as to keep the spiraling at bay:

-I still have my job (knock on wood), my communities, and /my/ research

-There’s no shortage of people and communities like us doing their part in what’s right, they have always been here, and will continue to be here

Response to the NSF freezing grant reviews:

-Exec orders aren't laws, they're meant to cause confusion and chaos, and there will be legal pushback

-DEI is just a word, and we'll just use different words

-And we already have and we've been playing this game for years, and that’s our power

All federal grants and loan disbursement paused by White House | CNN Politics The White House budget office has ordered a pause on all federal grants and loans, according to an internal memorandum sent Monday.

My partner and I both have cancer. She has a more serious case and will likely join a trial soon.

Federal funding supports NIH programs to identify and test promising treatments for rare cancers like my partner's.

Trump is playing with the life and death of everyone in this country.

Attacks on higher ed are also attacks on the economy. Pass it on.

Trying to remember that executive orders are not law and that there will be legal pushback

And trying to keep myself close to loved ones who can keep me sane and grounded instead of spiraling into doom and chaos
