Artists have been asking for the ability to select how an image will be cropped for years. Instead, you made a change that drastically hurts artist visibility and increases friction and frustration for all users.
This seems like it wasn't thought out in the context of how the site is actually used.
I haven't seen a single artist react positively to the carousel presentation due to its poor visibility. Also, the left and right swipe inputs could easily misinput as swiping over to different feeds while viewing a post in a feed rather than on a profile, which is how most users interact.

A human-looking warforged named Ethel, and a purple tiefling woman named Shiloh. The two women stand behind a corner and out of sight. Ethel tenderly holds Shiloh's face as she pulls her in for a kiss, her expression still seeming sad due to the circumstance. Behind them is a painted portrait in a golden frame of the woman Ethel was built to "be" and her fiancé Marcus, implying they're currently in his house. Ethel wears her more formal clothes and her hair has been lengthened and pulled back, giving her an overall more feminine appearance than she typically goes for. The implications of this drawing are that she's back in Marcus's home (part of her plan to help Shiloh) and has slipped away from her horrible fiancé for some brief respite in Shiloh's arms.
