For the few who may be interested, @pierkisser.bsky.social wrote an update - any extra money raised beyond the original target will not be wasted! They have already had to shell out thousands of their own cash recently for Victor. All donations will go towards his ongoing vet needs and his rehab.

I know we generally say bad things about the other place, but there are still pockets of goodness alive and kicking there. Friends of @pierkisser.bsky.social have been raising cash for surgery for her lovely rescue dog Victor. Within 24 hours we reached the target! t.co/oulrU59kL9

Over on the dark side there is a thing for summarising your year of Twittering. These pics capture my headlines. Some of you new followers may be disappointed by my content! Note to self for 2025: More breathing stuff, less dog stuff.

Please be aware that liking a post, here, is not the same as liking, in the other place. Here, it is not touched by the algorithms. It merely informs the original poster that you favour the post.

Please, use the repost function, as well as (or instead of) liking.

Thanks. I already have this app. It is great on iPhone but rubbish on iPad. Not full screen and tiny keyboard!

We don’t like the app format. Has anyone found a desktop version for iPawd. I’m seeing pics on the news of a very different format with the whole screen layout.

Definitely needs a better iPad version, Jemsky. Who do we ask?

Maybe. But without all the adverts and the aggression, I hope!

Yes! I set up camp here a while ago, but have not been active. There now seems to be a seismic shift and I suspect this place will become my preferred space.

How the legal system made it easy for the Post Office to destroy the lives of the sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses

And how the legal system then made it hard for them to obtain justice

At the Law and Policy blog - already with excellent comments

Twitter isn't down, you're just not awake and this is just the best dream you've had in many years. Also, I'm not Ben, I'm a butterfly with John Lennon's face. Now swim away.

Current starting point for postdoc salaries at Oxford University is just over £36k - £2.7K under threshold. According to The Royal Society 62% of postdocs are non-UK nationals (5/6 in my lab). Two things: (i) postdocs are underpaid; (ii) UK science is screwed

Latest Covid situation in the UK: 1 December 2023 The latest numbers and a tiny bit of reflection on the last few years being on Indie SAGE

Latest post of UK Covid situation is here:
open.substack.com/pub/christin...

TLDR: good news as Covid levels are lower than last winter and falling, as we go into the Christmas season. Flu also remains much lower than last year.
