« Overshoot », l'arnaque des capitalistes pour décourager tout effort pour le climat

Pour sauver leurs profits, les capitalistes construisent un mythe : que la technologie permettra de revenir sur le réchauffement du climat, expliquent Andreas Malm et Wim Carton, auteurs d'« Overshoot ».

Ils dénoncent une propagande funeste relayée jusqu'au Giec.

When forests become “timber”, rivers become “resources”, and air becomes “a commodity”, we don’t just lose nature.
We lose our soul as a society.
The moment nature is priced, humanity begins its decline.
This is not alarmism. This is arithmetic.

Every ancient tree is a living archive. Some have stood for 1,000–5,000 years — silent witnesses to empires rising and falling, ice ages retreating, and human civilizations unfolding. When they fall, entire chapters of Earth’s memory vanish forever.

I'm seeing a few posts about taking individual action on environmental issues. I don't want to rubbish them. I think they're important additions to the cause.

BUT

They can't compare to political action. Politics could solve our environmental issues overnight if the will was there.

🌍 History will judge us not by our innovations alone, but by the planet we leave behind. If we don't denounce deforestation and ecocide now, posterity will see our inaction as a profound moral failure. Our legacy is being written today. #ClimateAction #Ecocide

We need to talk about the words we use.
"Clearing ancient forests" is not "land management."
"Destroying ecosystems" is not "economic development."
It's the permanent erasure of a unique, irreplaceable life-support system.
Let's call it what it is: #Ecocide.

"Over the last few years, American tech oligarchs have become the greatest argument against their own existence.
The sheer scale of their erratic behavior and political interference proves that extreme wealth concentration is a structural threat to society."

We call ourselves "intelligent," yet the humblest fungus can decompose waste and build soil, a tree can harness solar energy, and a wetland can purify water—all without toxic byproducts. True intelligence is learning from these systems, not bulldozing them.

OSSOFF: You're here to be timely, objective, and independent of political considerations

GABBARD: That's exactly what I'm doing

OSSOFF: No. You're evading a question because to provide a candid response would contradict a statement from the White House

Pretty much everyone is aware and has personal experience with men in positions of power being predatory, abusive, and violent—and getting away with it. What is rarer and invokes rage and backlash is when someone tries to hold those men to account. That is what people have a problem with.

My humanity is the one thing they cannot take from me through legislation, through force, through fear. It belongs to me. And I will not surrender it, not even to my own rage, not even in the name of the people we have lost. I will not let them take that too.

Every explosion on an oil site is a double crime: against people caught in the crossfire and against the entire living planet. Accelerated warming + poisoned ecosystems + toxic legacy for children yet unborn. No justification. Perpetrators: utterly disgraceful. 💨🌡️ #NoWinningWhenPlanetLoses

If you start a war, you are responsible for every ton of carbon released into the atmosphere.
Every single life lost.
You are responsible for every species pushed closer to the brink of extinction.

To trade a future for a conflict is not strength. It is a disgrace to the word 'humanity.'

Human arrogance towards nature is despicable.
We treat Earth like a disposable resource, yet we've already lost 68% of wildlife populations since 1970. Nature doesn't need us. We need nature. Time to drop the superiority complex.

No bank balance can filter the air you breathe. No luxury purchase can cool a burning planet. The climate crisis is teaching us a hard lesson: without a healthy Earth, currency is just paper. True wealth is a stable climate, clean water, and thriving ecosystems.

The Iran war puts Asia in an energy panic Stranded Gulf supplies are choking off the region’s economies

“It is up by 42% since hostilities began. American motorists are already paying over $3.40 for a gallon of petrol on average, around 50 cents more than on February 27th. In Europe prices of natural gas, of which the Gulf normally ships lots in liquefied form, are 92% higher than before the war.”
