Update: Our dear friends' beautiful house - in fact nearly all of their beautiful town, is gone in the #palisadesfire.

Hoping my friend's #pacificpalisades home made it through the night. They were able to evacuate to safety in time yesterday but they don't know the fate of their home.

Not in the habit of checking or posting or broadening my network. Maybe that will change, maybe not. But right now I'm visiting good friends in Pacific Palisades enjoying their tart oranges, great Persian food, good wine and company and the amazing view from their backyard.

Walked away from "that other place" a long time ago now. @icebird.bsky.social told me at the West Antarctic meeting last week that I shouldn't be going all dark (so to speak). So here I am. Still hoping enough people around the world will again Embrace Rationality.
