It's hard as a quiet and more reserved guy though. Especially when the pace of a cons these days optimizes for a fast hyper social pace. I'm not as reserved as I used to be but I definitely still rely on my more extroverted friends + their plans to connect. Creating connection by myself is hard.
I don't think it's so black and white. Some of my not sexually open friends have very social cons. Some of my sexually open friends struggle socially. The real secret is having an inviting aura that is intriguing for others to get to know. Being hot + open helps but there are many ways to get there.

It's hard, I'm pretty bad at this too. I've relied on parties/groups to play around where the signals are obvious, but thats not always the energy. It helps to be direct, not that I'm good at it! I feel LVFC is also hard b/c there's a lot of things going on that pull people in many directions.

Helps though that none of my breakups were for truly bad reasons or blew up in my face during the process. Just hurt feelings between two people who cared for each other on the path of self discovery. The kind of stuff that is easier to heal with time.
Done it successfully with my ex's. One of them even became best friends (turns out a relationship was a big drag on us). Takes time, space, an open mind and a fundamental belief that people change over time. Sometimes you just met at the wrong time, sometimes the connection works better later.
